To some degree you make sense. But really - what ratio is acceptable or not. Do you think car break lights are exactly symetrical? Are they the exact same brightness?

Dashboards aren't 100 percent flush (instruments) ALL the time, etc. These are all nitpicky (or seemingly) nitpicky things equiv. to some of the REALLY anal postings here.

Perhaps the bigger the device the more allowances you can/most would make.

If my lock on my car has a little wiggle room - I might ask about it but I wouldn't expect a new car or that there would be a fix for it. But rather there was a degree of tight/not tight for those parts and that it is what it is.

I think my point remains valid when applied to the people looking for every single microbe to be perfect on their device.

If something is genuinely wrong with a car or a phone, of course it should be corrected/replaced. I'm not talking about those types of "arguments"

Yea, but what the OP mentioned was an uneven screen/bezel which people have to physicaly deal with every time they use their phones. This is like your car handle or steering wheel having this little defect that your hand has to rub on every sing time.

And I didn't say uneven tail lights. I mean tail lights the are not properly flush with the car to where water can get in.

When you bought your iPhone did you even look at it before you left the store?!? That is what amazes me... The people who are so excited to get home and jailbreak or whatever to their phone that they don't look at it in the store. If you have the nerve to complaign here you should have had the guts to tell the salesperson that you want a different one because of the bezel or screen or whatever your issue is

The fact that people even ask this question is stupid to me.... Of course we expect a quality product for our hard earned money. If there are manufacturing defects then yes I expect it to be replaced. I would not take a phone with an un-even bezel and I will soon return my 2nd 3gs for dust under the screen and cracks in the plastic. My first 3gs was replaced for 6 specs of dust under the screen in 6 days..... unacceptable to me for my $600 phone to have such poor build quality.

Personally I'm sick of people complain about the people complaining about the smallest things. I'm just not sure what I sick of more, but I'm tired of the whole lot of you.:D

To me, this is why the quality of pretty much everything has dropped over the last 10/15 years. People don't care that they get a sub-standard product and just buy a new one. Movies are the clearest example of this, but even since I've been an Apple customer, their QA has gone down significantly. I mean, the Xbox 360 fails at a rate of 54.4% and people don't mind. Consumers, we run the market, do something about it!

I expect high quality.

This is the first of 4 phone I have owned that came with defects. I looked over the other phones and found nothing obviously wrong and they were much cheaper phones.

Apple claims to produce a very high quality product, no? I love the usability of the phone, but the manufacturing quality is average.

Don't compare phones to cars in any manner. It's stupid. Same goes for people who compare cars to PCs.

Total cost of the iphone with service is over $2500, damn straight I want a perfect phone to stare at whenever I pick it up.

HERE! HERE!

(plus, if you don't like the complaints, don't click on or continue to read those threads!)

So yes, i would take my BRAND NEW Mercedes (kind of equivalent to the iPhone in comparison to other phones) back. Mercedes has been known for its high prices and good quality like Apple is also known for.

You must have meant your brand new BMW. How can you forget the FUN factor? :D

That's because it's cheap and made by Micro$oft!

I do agree though, quality is going down. I have a computer from about 10 years ago which works perfectly without having to be repaired once, and another about 5-6 years old which is the same. And they're both PCs!

In fact, I even met someone who's Windows 95 laptop still runs fine!

These days, though, computers and other gadgets are expected to last a few years and that's all.

A Day In The Life Of A BMW Driver
The other day I was cruising along as usual coming onto one of my motorways, which was very busy with inferior cars.

First off, I couldn’t believe that the volume of traffic DIDN’T slow down for me AT ALL as I came off the exit ramp! I had to squeeze into a barely big enough gap between two cars in order to get onto my motorway!

The driver of the car behind me did realise his mistake though and honked an apology to me with a long blast of his horn.

Unbelievably, I had to do the same again before I could get to the BMW lane.

Anyway, once I was in the BMW lane and posing along at 110 mph enjoying the adulation that the inferior car drivers were giving me, I noticed an inferior car ahead of me which was not only in the BMW lane of my motorway, but was driving at a ridiculous 70 mph!

Naturally, I got within a foot or so of his rear bumper and flashed my headlights to remind him he shouldn’t be in the BMW lane of my motorway and to get out of my way.

Of course, once he realised it was a BMW behind him, he did just that, but I could hardly believe it when he pulled straight back out behind me!

He also tried to keep up with me and when he realised I would out-run him, he put on some blue lights in his front grill and urged me to get onto the hard shoulder so that he could congratulate me on my excellent car.

Needless to say, I was eager to oblige and when we had stopped, the man gave me a piece of paper confirming what I already knew - that my car goes fast!

Apparently he wants everyone to know what a superior car I have, so I had to take my drivers licence to a police station to be sent away to have some points put on! (They’re not free points either - they’re £20 each and I was only allowed 3.) But the man at the police station said that because I drive a BMW, it won’t be much longer before I earn the full 12 points, and then I won’t even NEED a driving licence, so they will take it off me!

See, now THAT’S the sort of respect you get when you own and drive a BMW!

:p
