My mother purchased the Performa 550 for around $1200. The iMac was around $1200. And I spent around $3000 total (student discount) on my PB (including $200 rebate for iPod and $100 rebate for the $90 printer).

paid 4K for a Dell Inspiron 8000 laptop several years ago. How much BS is that?! It was top of the line desktop replacement then. It's a 900 mhz POS linux box now!

I found a receipt for my dad's Macintosh IIcx (25mhz, 100mb HD) with a 13" Apple RGB Color Monitor, Apple ImageWritter II color printer, and a NuBus RasterOps Graphics card that's as long as the Mac itself. I believe it was around $11,000. Pricey eh? I also found a receipt for SoftWindows 95, I think it was like $400 or more, I'll dig it up later I wouldn't mind trading in that Macintosh IIcx for a few G5 towers, hahaha

My dad paid over $5000 for our first Mac in 1995, with a B&W laser printer, top of the line scanner, maxed out RAM and extra hard drive space. I wish I could trade that system in for a new display and extra money for me.
