Happened to me today too. Also at 3:35. I was downloading an mp3 at the time and thought they were related. I’m upset that I tried to open it, but, my Mac said it couldn’t open, so, I hope that’s a good thing. My gut feeling is that it’s a benign download, but, it’s very scary.

If you do a Get Info in Finder on it, does it say where it was downloaded from? Downloaded files ought to.

Safari keep downloading Partner.dms files from websites including this one after update. This is Uber annoying what is causing it and how do I make it stop?

so does anyone know what is going on with this and how to stop it?

Seems like (though can’t be sure until someone checks the origin) that it’s a bad ad. Effective adblocking ought to stop it if that is the case.

Use an ad-blocker like Adblock Plus. It's situations like this that should be giving everyone more reason to use one.

Same. Macrumors gives me the download almost every time. “Partners.dms”

Happening to me as well. Happened on 3 or 4 different sites...Macrumors, I believe iMore, maybe the Verge. Definitely seems like something is up with an ad network.

My Safari just downloaded "PARTNERS.DMS" as I read this forum post (like a shooting star to the downloads icon on the task bar) ... maybe its some form of 'file' we get all the time for adds and other web clutter - that Safari is treating differently.....

I haven't received it since the first time, though three times that time. I've been coming to this sight a few times each day and also tried opening it fresh.

Could I have you zip the file, and upload it somewhere for me to analyze?
I've just heard rumors about it now, and would like to get to the bottom of it.

ENJOY!
