I have an M1 MBA in SG and a 14" MBP in silver. I picked up my M1 MBA used for a stupidly good price so colour wasn't a consideration, but when ordering the 14" MBP I ordered Silver due to the investment, and due to the potential long term implications.

I have a 12.9" iPad Pro in space grey that I've loved for years that has been connected to a Apple magic keyboard or folio, which is completely discoloured on the back side of the iPad Pro. I had also scratched it somehow on the edge shortly after I got it, and the silver underneath shows and sticks out like a sore thumb. the charging port remains unmarked. I generally keep all my devices pristine, so wasn't happy with this and didn't want to risk it with the MBP.

The used M1 was a bargain so the colour wasn't as important, but the cost of the 14" MBP had me go with silver.

Both are nice. Silver seems to be popular this gen, but with the thicker and bulkier chassis, I feel like Silver is so classic that it looks kind of retro. Whereas the Space Grey is more sleek and modern and better fits the overall thicker shape of the new chassis. Different strokes for different folks I guess.

Space grey is less "in your face" in certain environments. But space grey will definitely show more wear than silver. For some reason the new 16" MacBook Pro looks better in silver, whereas the 14" MacBook Pro tends to look slightly better in space gray. It's a weird, subjective thing. And I could go either way depending on the time of day.

Perhaps the best way to look at it is — you love all your children equally!

After awhile, both SG and silver both look okie.
But for scratches, silver hides it better.

I managed to sell a slightly scratch silver MBP 2017 15 inch without much issue as really need to hunt for the scratch mark. The scuff is caused by the laptop case zipper.

I have the 14" silver and regretted it at the start, but do love it now. Clean and classic.

If I was getting the 16" it would definitely have been SG though.

My first two MBP's were silver.
For the 14", I got space gray "for a change".
So far, so good.

My last MBP was in space grey and overall I really liked it. I thought it was my favorite finish. But then my employer sent me a 14" M1 in silver. I was as disappointed as you can be getting a machine for free... silver/16gb ram but as soon as I unboxed it I realized silver is such a classic color. The extra thickness + silver color reminded me of my first MBP (2011) and I got a lot of nostalgia from all of the previous MacBook pros I've owned.

Looking at space grey I don't really care for it all that much. It's an in-between color... not really bright like silver, and not really dark like black.

I didn't really choose on mine. The clerk brought it out and I forgot to see which one it was before I bought it. Turns out it was space gray but I still like it.

Silver.
My first MacBook Pro was a 2015 13" so obvious it was silver. Since then I had a few MacBooks pros, each time I alternated between silver and space grey.

Now im planning on buying and keeping the M2 pro or max 16" for a few years and I want to go back to the classic, iconic silver.

The real question I’ve wondered about since the iPhone 14 Pro was announced is: when will we see space black on a MacBook Pro?

Went with Silver, purely because it's more durable, and it's a classic and timeless look. I do love the contrast of the back keyboard deck, and the black apple logo as well. On top of that, it matches with my Studio Display quite nicel :)

I picked up a Space Grey MBP 14" at the weekend. This is my first Macbook and I thought Space Grey was the one to go for, by default really and I didn't even look at the silver option, either online or in store.

From reading and watching videos, I am now thinking that I should have looked at the silver. There's quite a few anodising wear / rub stories out there for the Space Grey. Difficult to say how much truth are in these, as at work we have older silver 13" MBPs and I can say you can definitely still see scratches on the silver model.

The silver seems quite reflective in videos though.... not sure! I'll think it over some more I guess.

there
SILVER
and Satechi does a perfect silver color match for MacBook, iPads, iPhone stands, BT mouse and hopefully BT keyboard!
My MacBook Air form 2010 is silver and still looks great 13 years later!
