SimCity 3000 there is also a toxic waste site but I haven't seen it in the iPhone version yet.
There is a toxic waste facility
Business Deals I have seen

Casino
Military Contractor
Toxic waste facility
Research Lab
Sports Stadium

and im not sure if its a business deal or if its an educational gift but a university as well

Power lines are the same as bridges - it all depends on the land formation but they can go over rivers.

And the research facility, contractor, military base, stadium, etc. aren't technically business deals because they don't actually supplement the budget like the other 4 i mentioned.

OK, here is something for you guys...

I have played Sim City on the computer ever since it came out, but I am having a serious problem with the iPhone version...

No matter what I do, none of my buildings have electricity...I have really tried everything here, what is the trick to this? It is severely making me regret the $10 price tag...

Build a power station, power lines to the first zone, every subsequent zone or building connected by road will be connected to the grid (or should be).

Yeah, it is not working :( All of my buildings have the no power logo on them...Even running a power line from the power station to the building directly does not solve the problem

quick thought, you have got the game on "play" and not "pause" haven't you? If it's on pause the buildings will be showing no power until the game is resumed ( and will take a few days to get on the grid).

Figured out the power lines over water thing: it looks like my river was too wide, so I had to start over with a new city.

so, I suppose I figured out the power problem. I deleted my first city and made a new one. This one now works as expected. I have no idea, I wonder if the game file was corrupted or something? Either way, I got it now, thanks guys.

then what is their purpose?

They all bring benefits to the city but don't bring a direct cash flow to your budget every month.

For example, the research facility will improve the health levels of the city and the military base brings more commercial and industrial demand.

Summarizing all your problems...

Building a bridge
1) Make sure you have enough cash
2) Select the road tool and drag the road over the water to make a bridge. Sometimes this doesn't work, I don't know why. I found out by experimenting that you just have to move the bridge to a different location from where you first created it. Simply move it using the move pointer and you should be able to place a bridge across a river or lake.

Water Water Water.
Water Towers allow water to be accessed within the city.
Water Pumps are placed as close as possible to a source of water. Use the pipes to let the water pump move the water from the lake through the pipes. I like to build a water pump and connect it to a water tower, I noticed that it increases the distance that water can travel using pipes alone. Water treatment plants don't pump water, they only sanitize.

Trains
I used to encounter problems with this too. Sims were complaining but when I built the stations no one was using it. I remembered how railroad tycoon works and applied the same idea to the stations in Sim City. You have to put tracks over a longer distance than bus stops (try putting at least 20 spaces between stations). I usually build my residentials away from the industrial zones and build a track to connect the two zones. Make sure you build at least two station ALONG the track

SSS : Station
=== : Tracks
[,] : End points of tracks

and then build roads near the stations. Make sure there is some allowance after the railroad from the station to the end point of the track. I think this was my problem cause I would put that end point right beside the station. Railroad tracks can also be built over water. Just follow the same steps as building roads. I get up to 300 passengers a day and have built up to 4 stations in my city. If you want that annoying message "Sims can't get from here to there blah blah" to go away, try increasing your budget for transportation to 120%.

Hope this helps!

help

i cant get my water pumps to work there all conected but there useless.....why.......???????

This game had a lot of reports of crashing/etc. Have there been updates to fix this yet? Is it in a better place than release?

umm, anyone? Is this game still a crashtastic mess?

SimCity Deluxe IPad water problem confirmed

YES! i'm getting this, very annoying. hopefully fixed in the update (hope there is one, needs to be!)
Built 3 cities up to 1M to test the BUG and water messages and effects can't be resolved. iPhone deluxe version doesn't seem to have same issues.

No way around the not enough water to cry BUGG

iPad version limits max growth to about 1M due to Water shortage bug.
I tested multiple scenarios and found that with good water system in place already, if you have nuclear plants explode, destroy all affected buildings, suddenly your city boasts excellent water system? WTF?
Another bug is that while using the bulldoze tool you can destroy your whole city. Not sure why or how yet, but pain in the...
Anyway, glad that the iPad version has auto pipes, however auto utilities renew would be nice even if it cost money! It can be boring and long to destroy old aged power plants, water system and recycling facilities.
Subway transport would be a welcome addition, trains suck and are useless!
Being able to make buildings historical would be good too and enable another level of gameplay, city perfectioning.
