OS X Simcity 4 Deluxe Edition!

so I've just seen this, and am SO excited. I bought, and downloaded, and pulled all my cities and plugins from my bootcamp drive. The game loads so quickly, but as soon as I unpause a city to play, I get the first two city messages, and as soon as I dismiss the second one, I get the spinning beachball from hell... that never goes away. I then have to forcequit the game to get it to do anything. The music is still playing while it's frozen...
I don't know what to do, I'm so excited to just play this on my mac, rather than having to install windows, especially since my new laptop won't let me install Windows 7, which is the version I own... I need to have 8 or later... and I don't really care to buy windows JUST to install Simcity...
Any help would be most appreciated!
