Used the new sim. Switched off old phone. Called 877-807-4646 from my desk phone. Activated immediately.

I am lost, didn't you say switching SIM cards didn't work earlier?

Yes it did not work at first. Later I turned the phone off and waited a minute. Then I turned it on and I was able to make a call. However, I received a message that the old SIM is not supported by the new phone when I connected the phone to iTunes. I think I should have used the new SIM. I am wondering if using an unsupported SIM will cause my phone to "limp along".

Okay, thanks for clarifying. I'll just use the new sim and activate.

When you call to activate, what information do you need? I'm not the account holder (a family member is), so it would be helpful if I got the information first so I would have it in hand. I get the phone Tuesday.

When you Contact Verizon, the prompt should ask you for your Pin or the service representative will ask you for your Pin associated with the account, and then the account name and phone number. If you don’t have that information, then they can’t move forward in the process in all likeliness.

I will get the pin and verify the account name and phone number I am thinking is actually correct. Thank you--wouldn't have thought about the pin! I am now wondering if my guess is right as I know the family member's favorite numbers lol.
