Are you using Bartender by any chance? I have a permanent blue dot because my screen is ‘being recorded’.
Late and not entirely on topic with this thread, but I just ran across this post, and I wanted to point you to "Ice", a free / open-source app that can be used as a Bartender replacement. I switched a few weeks back after being annoyed with the blue dot from Bartender (especially as it pops up when I am using full-screen apps or videos), and I do not have the blue dot constantly showing under Ice. But otherwise, for what I use it for at least — hiding icons I don't regularly need to click on — it is functionally the same.

To answer myself:

Just updated to 15.3 on the M1 Max Mac Studio, Screen Mirroring bug is fixed.

I'm on 15.3 (24D60) with the M1 Studio and it isn't fixed. Strange that we have mixed results.

Oh wow, that's weird.
Single 32" 4K monitor here with UI scaling set to 2560x1440 @144 Hz, connected via TB4 to DP.

15.3 also fixed false-screen-mirroring for me on an M4 mini only outputting AV via HDMI.

  • No screen mirroring active in Control Center
  • After re-enabling the option to show Screen Mirroring in the menu bar if active, it’s not showing, as expected

I spotted this screen mirror issue as well on M2 Mini after updating to 15.2 - have just updated to 15.3 today and it's disappeared.

One thing I also noticed was Apple Intelligence seemed to turn on automatically with this 15.3 update (I'm sure I hadn't clicked anything) whereas 15.2 it was off. 👎 [Just spotted this MacRumors article that this is now the case with 15.3 and iOS 18.3 - macOS Sequoia 15.3 and iOS 18.3 Enable Apple Intelligence Automatically]

For those of you who see 15.3 fixing the screen mirroring issue, do you have more than one monitor? I have three displays, 1 HDMI and two DP via USBC connected and 15.3 has not resolved the screen mirroring problem.

Single screen. Mine's connected to a 4k tv. 👍

I have two setups (MacStudio M2 Ultra) - first with one monitor, second with two monitors (all monitors are 4k Asus Pro Art PA 329. For the first setup this bug disappeared, for the second the problem is still there.
