You guys, i have been sobbing for the last 2 hours. I've finally managed to come onto the computer.

..My mom washed my Shuffle.
Tonight was the first time in years I've fought with my mom...violently.

Of course it doesn't show any signs of life. My $80 in-ear headphones also went for a swim, but survived.

If you remember, my 3G ipod died just 2 weeks ago when the screen cracked.
I feel like my only 2 children have died in one month. I'm now iPodless and deeply depressed. I have that deep lump in my throat and on the verge of tears.

I need your condolences in my time of sorrow.

As a fellow macrumors member, I'd advise you to reword the above sentence.

I'm very sorry for your loss. I haven't been ipodless in 3 years (knock on wood) and am thankful for every day with Ye Almighty Pod. Just think of it this way: You'll appreciate your new iPod photo even more.

:0)

No need to. I was pissed off: throwing thing across the room, broke her laundry basket, and caused a stir over who will pay for the replacement.

I'm sure your quite upset, but I think you need to calm down a bit :). I'm sure your mom didn't mean to wash your iPod Shuffle, did she? I would just let it dry out for a bit and see if it works in the morning or something. Which model was it? 512MB or 1GB?

You've been crying for 2 hours over an mp3 player? Don't get me wrong I'd be choked if I washed my iPod or it died but come one, you seem to be emotionaly distraught over consumer goods. It's not like your dog died or you lost an arm.
If this is all it takes to make you cry I'd be afraid to see how you'd deal with an actual emergency. I don't mean to be a prick but come on, your being rediculas.

Crying-sobbing, same difference. Hysterical is when tears come to me.

A lot of people get distraught over consumer goods, cars for one. I think it's up to a person to decide what adds value and depth to his/her life. I was really torn up when my friend sat on my really really nice eye glasses (roughly $500). Daveway, I offer you my sympathy as that is all I can offer. Oh, I know you're on the younger side, but you could take on the responsibility of double-checking your pockets before your mom does the wash. That might prevent future mishaps. :(

You are not going to like this, either do you own washing and make sure that sure stuff doesn't get put through the cycle or accept the fact that your mother made a mistake, she is human after all, getting violent solves nothing

my phone got washed(my fault) so my mom said i was paying for it, put it work. I did not cry, got off it i less the an hour

Man, when my car was ripped off I didn't get this stressed out about it. And I only had liability insurance! I got a little angrier when the towing company that salvaged it from a fishing hole wanted to charge me $200-odd when I was turning over the title of what was left to them.

You've had TWO iPods at once dude. If you really loved them they wouldn't be in your dirty pockets.

I agree to a degree. Sure it is a bummer to lose an iPod like that. Maybe it is my Depression Era parent's values coming through, but I get more upset when I forget a pen and wash and dry it with my clothes.

I did already.
BTW, I'm a real tight a*s. :D I'm looking to get a U2 Color delivered before the 11th for vacation.

Sounds like the death of the shuffle created the "need" for a new U2 color iPod - that and clean clothes, take your mom out to a nice dinner!

I agree w/ the pen and ruining the clothes as a bigger bummer. But that's probably because a load of my clothes cost way more than an iPod. ;)

I know where you are coming from.

I guess my point of view is different because of my recent break-up with a lover of 13+ years. I was left with $14K of their credit card debt; and about $6K of their COBRA payments and joint living expenses. I am/was forced (going to settlement this morning) to sell my home that I bought solely in my name. In the end I am hurt that I was lied to. Angry, maybe at myself for my own actions. For in the end I have only myself to blame.

Much like daveway has only himself in not taking his mini out of his pockets. Even if his Mom took and grabbed laundry without his knowledge, that is the price one pays for "maid service". In the end, he learned a lesson; but it is not the end of the world. So much worse can happen.

God has answered my prayer.

It's A MIRACLE!!!

I have witneses a miracle before my eyes.

My Shuffle has Risen from the dead, like Lazarus. :D

When I woke up this morning, I has an epiphany. Something told me to plug it into my imac and leave it there. I came back this afternoon to get it out and it was very warm and the mounted lights were on.
My shuffle had mounted! I unplugged it and my shuffle has returned to normal function.

Today is a day for the history books, my books that is. :D :D :D I'm so happy.

Great. Now go buy a replacement laundry basket...

And while you're there pick up an im sorry card...

Do your own laundry and this won't happen...I'm sure you'll be much more careful from now on. *hopefully*

Life is rough, it could be worse though, could have been a mini or a regular iPod. Consider yourself lucky.
