I do outdoor walks with my Apple Watch every day. I live in a cold weather climate so I have gloves on and use Siri to initiate the workout. I never get a consistent response from Siri.
  • Sometimes it will start the workout on my watch.
  • Sometimes it will just open the workout app but not start anything.
  • Sometimes it will tell me it can’t do that functionality.
  • And other times it will ask me which third-party app I want to open. Not sure why I would want to use a power nap app to initiate a workout.
  • And when I tell Siri to end the workout sometimes Siri will say “Good job don’t forget to hydrate” and other times nothing. When Siri says nothing it forces me to look at the watch to confirm that Siri actually ended the workout.
To me this is the most frustrating thing about Siri. Siri needs to be more reliable and consistent.
Agree.
Siri is quite consistent as far as HomeKit and general requests are involved, but for workouts is almost unusable because every times it seems to start a different activity.

coming from an android user that owns a Ipad pro 11. Siri is useless Google is way superior into AI side. Hate to also say it even Samsung's Bixby works better than Siri
Samsung Bixby is a joke, and Google Assistant is no more useful than Siri in this kind of activity.

Siri is a disaster because Apple basically stopped developing the AI necessary to drive it. Google Assistant is light years ahead of Siri.
And do you have proofs about this statement, right ?
Because Apple is still hiring high profiles for Siri development...

and you think apple doesn't violate your privacy
Absolutely yes. Apple doesn’t.

For me she works 50/50.. but recently I’ve had some strange inconsistencies as well with the otherwise rock solid “add .... to my shopping list” command. Sometimes she started asking “ok, what to you want me to remind you off?” So annoying!

lol, yes, Siri can or has had many people curse at the program or their device(s). in fact, I know I will sometime next week. sometimes, I will curse Siri out and wait for a response, lol. then I have to remember not to mix sci-fi with reality. we can hope Siri/a.i. will reach sci-fi proportions before we die but we should remember, we are witnessing a birthing process, hell sorry, damn history degree bug got me. anyway, I will curse it out and be amazed that it can give me a response. Siri, how many times have the raiders won the super bowl? Siri use to respond with some nonsense about their schedule, now Siri responds with the right answer. aaaahhhhh, upgrades and a little time. in short, lol, we crawl before we walk. brb, cursing Siri out.

Here’s something recent that’s incredibly annoying. I ask Siri a question and my iPhone answers it instead of my HomePod. The only way to get my HomePod to answer is to put my phone face down. These aren’t questions that HomePod can’t answer, they’re simple things like weather forecasts. I know Apple has complex algorithms to determine which device is best suited to take a Siri request but in the past when I was in a room where HomePod was present (or anywhere close enough for HomePod mics could hear My voice) HomePod would always take the request. It’s really annoying when you’re half way across a room and you can’t hear the answer because the iPhone is giving it.

So yesterday I was getting ready to go for a walk. I raised my wrist and asked Siri to start an outdoor walk. The first time Siri said “starting an outdoor walk on your Apple Watch” but it didn’t actually start the workout it just opened the workout app. So I asked again. This time Siri started the workout on my Watch (without saying the previous phrase) but then in my ears I hear her say “I cannot locate an app for that on your iPhone”. 🤦‍♀️ 🤦‍♀️ 🤦‍♀️

The only time I ever really NEED to use siri is the one time I know she will NOT work for me. I have a motorcycle helmet/bluetooth intercom system so while riding I may need to ask siri for directions or ask her to send a message to my wife or read a message. 99% of the time siri will not understand what I'm saying or she will tell me "you need to unlock your iphone..." Siri can't give me directions to my home but i did discover that she can give me directions to my town in general.

If I say "directions home" or "directions to (my home address)" she will tell me I need to unlock my iphone or else say something infuriating like "did you want to call so and so?". NO, I DO NOT WANT TO CALL ANYBODY!!!!

Honestly, siri is the one thing I miss most about using android, google is light years ahead with their AI
