Siri isn't working anymore

When I say, "Hey Siri <blah, blah, blah . . .>"the undulating rainbow lighting appears at the edges of the phone - and nothing else. The iPhone 17 Pro Max just kind of hangs (sort of freezes - but not actually freezing) with the rainbow lights swirling and nothing else.

So, this is the new $1600 phone.

Weird.

You’ve given us nothing to go on. What have you tried? Is the phone up to date etc etc?

I described the symptom. There is nothing more to explain. I suppose I could shoot a video - but the video would demonstrate exactly what I've described.

Yes, the phone is up to date - it always is up to date 24/7 - I always keep Microsoft Windows up to date - because of how dysfunctional a Windows operating system is. Oh wait. This is Apple and I'm running iOS26.

This morning Siri still wasn't working - 8 hours later or whatever - so I rebooted Windows (I mean iOS 26) and Siri mysteriously began working again. Just like Windows - nobody knows why.

I've recently moved from an iPhone 7 Plus to an iPhone 17 Pro Max this month - and the iPhone 7 Plus sure as heck never had THIS problem over the 9 years I've used my iPhone 7 P. The iPhone 17 PM has had this problem twice now. This is a brand new $1600 phone. wtf?

iPhone 17 Pro Max seems rather janky compared to my iPhone 7 Plus.

Weird.

At least the cameras are nice.

The issues are probably down to iOS 26 being a POS. iOS 27 is shaping up to be much better.

I was just defending Apple the other day with my usual, "it just works" phrase. Well, I guess that's out the window. It looks like this is the beginning of the en****tification process. It was bound to happen at some point.

Yeah, I fixed the problem. I sold my iPhone 17 and went back to my iPhone 7. Works.

Hold on. So your Siri was not working after you moved from iPhone 7 to 17 Pro, which you fixed by restarting your iPhone and then you went back to 7 just because of this one hiccup? You could have taken it up with Apple Support first, just out of curiosity.
