Yes, Siri is far from a finalised product, especially outside the USA, hence why I saw even less reason for upgrading to the 4s.

I like using it when driving for text messaging and other task that distract me.

Googles had it forever but I find Siri even in beta to work just a bit better. I doubt people in the US will see massive improvements coming out of beta.

Far too unreliable for me, and many features missing for Uk users.

"BETA" in yellow. Right beside the name.

Not sure where you are from, but that's called an ad in the USA. And this is called a commercial:

I heard no mention of Siri being in Beta.

My opinion is, regardless of what it is called, if it ships on a product it's a finished version. Is the 4S only a beta product then?

I don't have a 4S, is Siri on by default, or do you have to turn it on?

Also this commercial: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8uS6d7fsPnM&feature=relmfu

Why are they advertising a product that's not "officially released" yet? Isn't that false advertising? They are saying it is on the iPhone 4S. Hell, I'm guessing many customers don't even know what "Beta" means.

The iPhone 4s is not beta. Siri is not on by default, you have to turn it on.

Siri was on by default on my phone - it was one of the first things I tried.

I agree with Tiptizzle - it's all well and good it being a beta, but not on for them
to use it as a selling point in their commercials ( and not declaring it ).

1. "Play playlist house"
- SIRI takes on average 5-10seconds longer to understand my request and actually play the playlist vs the original iPhone 4 voice command!
PS: Yes I speak english as my only language (currently), and have for all my life.

SIRI makes a call to a remote server farm to do the processing. The original voice command is all on the phone.

Thank you. Now that I understand how it works, the voice command cannot do much responding without the network connection to the remote server farm. Considering the local full services being featured ONLY in the USA (I'm curious if I roam from Canada to the USA if all service would then work, hmm), then Apple is looking at the potential server farm load and managing that as a priority. Data is a HUGE impact for this service so being in "beta" is a cautionary notice - not a product being in beta.

I didn't buy the 4S for Siri, but it's due to be enhanced, hopefully in the next IOS update.

It's quite a task to have a database with all information. I use it from time to time to send messages etc. As for the rest it will come eventually. The camera and CPU upgrades were my reason for purchasing the new phone anyway.

Roaming: If you make sure your SIRI voice is set to american english and are using SIRI in the states then you'll get the full functionality.
