Hi. Since updating to 12.1.1 ive noticed that Siri will not let me download the Irish accent or any other accent for that matter in iOS 12.1.1 when I click onto “Settings - Siri and Search- Siri Voice and then pick an accent in my case Irish the percentage below “This Siri voice will take effect when downloaded 0% compete” it stays stuck on 0% it wont move for whatever reason. Ive done all the basic trouble shooting steps such as a hard reset, reset all settings etc but to no avail. This is a very minor issue but the Irish accent is the only one that is able to best understand me so its important I can use this Siri accent. Really need your expert advice. Can you confirm if this is a bug etc or just unique to me.

Also its not just the Irish accent that wont download its all barre the American accent which downloads fine

Thanks.

that's good perhaps its just unique to me or just some customers I got it going somewhat I found a temporary work around. I can use the female Siri but not the male one but no big deal at least its the enhanced one

Interestingly enough I have exactly the same problem. Selecting the British accent, I get a continual "downloading" message with no options for either male or female voices, even though these are available (and work) for the American selection. I have reset my iPhone but with no results. The next stage will be a complete restore from backup but this may just retain the problem. Selecting "British" on my iPad and MacBook both work and seems to have kicked the iPhone into "British" mode but the "downloading" message is still there.

Yeah exact same with me I have the Irish accent but only the female one will work it’s not letting choose between male and female. The gender options will only appear for the American Voice but the others ones don’t. It did work before the update. I’m in talks with apple they’re investigating it

Yes someone in apple told me the Siri team know why and will have a server side fix in place by next Tuesday or Wednesday

hey @Irishappletech I also had the exact same problems that are described above! I can only select the American Siri accent voice option, however when I click any other language options it seems to be stuck at 0% indefinitely. There doesn't seem to be any gender male/female option for the other languages other than American as well.

Also similar to @Cognomen , when selecting the British option on my old iPhone or Macbook Pro in the Siri settings, it also kicks the iPhone into British mode, but is still stuck on the downloading stage.

Just wondering how did you get in touch with Apple about this issue as I tried reaching out in support but it seems that restoring/factory resetting may be the only option according to them? Glad to hear that this might be a server side fix!

That’s the exact same as me I have an email for someone high up in apple and he passed me onto one of the managers responsible for Siri. I’ll attach below what he said
[doublepost=1544900462][/doublepost]Hope that helps I did a factory restore as I was hving a lot of other issues but this seemed to fix the Siri voice issue but it’s not worth doing a restore just for that one issue. So hopefully next Tuesday or Wednesday this will be fixed. I attached the email below in a screenshot

Yeah for sure I was definitely considering whether or not to factory restore! Given that you factory restored already and if this issue still occurs past Wednesday, should I let you know? Or would it be best to contact Apple again (ie. maybe through your email connection?)

Let me know I can pass you on the email if you like. Although he is aware of it so maybe no point but I suppose if more customers let him know the better

Sure! sounds good, do you want to DM me the email if thats convenient for you?

Okay great! If the issue persists past next week, I'll just send a quick update message regarding this to that email.

and yes, I also use messages in iCloud!

Good idea. Are you noticing that messages in iCloud is storing some messages locally on the device too when I go to settings general iPhone storage messages I see 4 conversations stored locally here but these message conversations are also stored in iCloud too. Why are these 4 being stored locally and in the cloud

I think sometimes this occurs when the initial syncing for messages in the iCloud may not have synced correctly. Have you tried the option in iCloud settings on the iPhone where you turn it off and on back again?

Yes I tried that the feature itself seems to be working perfectly.

See the screenshots below I marked the messages with a black star that are appearing in both iCloud and locally.

That’s good I’m still waiting on my iPad for a fix as 12.2 didn’t launch for iPad I’m still hoping for the server side fix not holdin my breath though

im on iOS 12.2.2 on my iPhone but iOS 12.1.1 on iPad as apparently iOS 12.2.2 is only an iPhone only update

I can confirm this feature is now back working looks like the server side fix did work. You have to plug your device in apparently for it to kick in this is what I was told by the person from Apple

Hope that helps

Switching to the English accent for female Siri worked with my XS a few days ago. Alas, I was hoping for Miss Moneypenny (Lois Maxwell) but the result was unattractive - where is Sir Jony when you need him lol. Back to the American Siri

And where is French Siri? Of course, if she isn’t better than the English version, the ‘gilets jaunes’ will be in Cupertino....
