I imagine it’s tailored for navigating with gamepad, so yeah
I know that haha, I'm simply not really liking it. The selector in a weird gradient, there's a lot of blank space... It could also use some hierarchy (albums, playlists, artists...). Now of course I don't know how much access they have to the library so that maybe a limiting factor but still, it feels rushed.

I think it depends on how large your screen is and if you are sitting at appropriate distance or not.

Tried this all I get is an error when I click the subscribe button.

I used to sub to Apple One plan but that was 4 months ago.

I mean...yeah...it's a PlayStation 5 not a computer. It's made for a gamepad and to be able to be accessible while you're playing a game. The Xbox interface and SteamOS/Big Picture Mode is the same

I'm guessing you don't play video games often (or at all) do you?

The original PS3/PSP interface was peak console interface. It’s all downhill and ads ads ads after that.

That UI is really something huh…

To be clear, that's not the full app (which they also have), that's the equivalent of a menubar popup - hit the PS button on the controller at any point and you get that row of icons at the bottom overlaid on top of whatever game. Kinda like Control Center. The Music icon is highlighted, so it brings up very simplified controls for Apple Music - oriented mostly to picking a playlist to listen to while you game. If you want to do (much) more, you can switch to the Apple Music app. This, BTW, is not a new thing, Apple Music has been on the PS5 for at least a year. It's just a new offer.

There's not a single ad on my PS5 dashboard what?

You're mistaking it for the Xbox dashboard. Now that is covered in ads.
As someone who has both Xbox series X and PlayStation 5. They both have ads. I’d probably go as far as saying the PlayStation 5 might have more ads.

The interface is wonky and just kills the experience because of the unnecessary ads from “explore” tab or game section when you hover over a game. They mask it very well so users don’t think they’re ads, but they are ads.

Anyway, I tried to redeem the offer and sadly they charged me full price and didn’t work. Not the end of the world.
