So we are nearly at the end of Q1.....do you think there is a chance that it could be announced tomorrow?
Yours clutching at straws

what is the sling app?
Don't hold your breath. I think it will be rejected at least once. If they won't let an app that will only last three weeks use 3G (see CBS March Madness app) then do you think they will let Sling be anything but Wifi only?
Apple better straighten itself out and let these apps come out as they are intended. Sorry if that last part sounded like a broken record.
No one yet has given a good reason why they think apple would reject the sling app. The best reason I heard so far is "Because they have rejected blah blah blah", which isn't a good reason.
Remember, saying AT&T has bandwidth issues doesn't count because all of the BB device on the AT&T network current allow for the sling app.
and the iPhone believe it or not is available in 79 other countries who couldn't care less what AT&T think

The reason it would be rejected would because it allows viewing on 3G. Apple might request it be Wifi only. Remember Apple and AT&T are in bed together on this. Heck, look at the Starplayr app for Sirius, once Sirus got wind of it that app was rejected on the spot.
You can't use the BB Sling app as an example, nobody is controling the gate. Anyone can create an app for BB or WM and release it for use. Nobody is there saying we don't like how this works on the network you can't use it on the phone.
So, in short, what you are saying is that apple could reject it because they don't how it runs on the phone? Sorry if im being dense, but you do understand that BB are running the app on ATT network?
Before we get into a long drawn out discussion about this very topic, go to https://forums.macrumors.com/threads/540861/ and see that tread.
That thread proves my point about Apple possibly rejecting it. Let me try to be more clear.
Apple knows it works, and how it works. Sling displayed it on an iPhone at Macworld or some event for the app store last year. What I'm saying is that it won't be approved by Apple for a few reasons, 1. at&t might not want it on there network, see the news/rumor today about an app for watching your at&t Uverse TV on your iPhone, 2. Apple might have something in the works with Apple TV and don't want it interfering with their revenue, 3. at&t thinks it takes up to much bandwidth. It is against at&t's TOS to use Sling.
All I'm saying IMHO is I don't think Apple will approve it to run on 3G. Why do you think the March Madness app doesn't work 3G? Bandwidth.
BB and WM do not have a middleman if you will, saying what apps can be released to the public and what can't. Anybody can develop and release an app for BB and WM and it will be available to use whenever the developer decides. Apple themselves decide on an app by app basis what gets released to the public.
By the way, I have a Bold and Slingplayer on it and it runs great. I love the Slingbox.
Again, sorry if I'm being too dense to understand your post, but out of all of the above reasons, only #2 makes any sense to me. 1. There are already devices on ATT network that use the slingbox app. I know that, but ATT can not control that!! They can control the iPhone through Apple. 3. If ATT had/has bandwidth issues then why allow it for the BB, especially if its against TOS. Because they can't control what programs are loaded on a persons BB, people are free to load any program they want on their BB
I can see your 2nd reason clearly, but what I find funny about it is, if that is true and there is some other kind of device that apple in vested in, then it makes your 1 and 3 reason again invalid. This is because it would A. it would be another device running on ATT network that is similar to slingapp, and B. would be a bandwidth hog. Difference here is that it's made by Apple and revenue is collected by Apple If apple does have some kinda of device that is similar to the slingbox, then I hope to god they get it out fast, so I can buy it and sell my SB.
I understand that apple has to approve apps, all I was asking for was a valid reason why some believe that apple will not approve it.If you can't see that bandwidth and revenue possibilities for Apple/AT&T are sold reasons I can't say anymore.
Edit*
That post I link too mostly have people saying "Apple won't release the slingapp because they didn't release X app", like how you refered to the March Madness app. Then why is it WIFI only? The app is only good for 3 weeks. Sorry, but to me that is not a valid reason. I would hope a large company like slingmedia would have at least talk to some apple exec's to at least get an idea of whether or not this was a possiblity. I sure they communicate but who know how much This isn't some small work from home developer we are talking about.
The is less than zero percent chance that this app works with anything other than WiFi, if approved. Although I do think the chances of approval itself are high since there is some heavy muscle (Dish) behind it.
So I guess the WiFi-only app is better than no app . . . although I can see many more jailbreaks as a result.

I'm not trying to make this difficult but I guess we agree to disagree.
