It seems to take forever to download El Capitain. Speedtest.net says my download speed is 90 Mbps, which should be pretty fast. Yet, in 3 hours I have only downloaded 300 Mb of El Capitain. Is this a problem with Apple servers?

just close app store and reboot the download will restart from where it left off but be much quicker- mine stopped completely I rebooted and it started at 2 gb its nearly finished now 10 mins later

Been downloading for the past hour and it still lists mine as being 4 hours and 46 minutes till completion. :/

Just paused mine. 152Mb internet connection, time to download 23 hours. But, on the off chance it gets a move on I don't want it completing while I'm at work and rebooting the Mac, waking the better half.

kind of in the 1hr 20 minute ballpark, but started at 6PM eastern. Not fast on a 40mb line, but no worries ;)

Mine said hours then days. Tried to pause it and start it again but it just kept saying waiting. This worked for me try hold ALT (option) then press pause it will ask to if you wanna cancel press yes and start downloading again. Just downloaded mine in 30 min

Didn't work. Actually its worse now (over a day). In Canada if that makes a difference.

Pause the download, go into internet settings and change your DNS to 209.244.0.3. For meGoogle DNS is not working but Level3-DNS makes a huge difference, since it always connects to the nearest server operated by Level3. Give it a try!

Mines been going for over 3 hours. Currently at ~5GB. The suspense is killing me lol

its worth the wait, i'm made up.

First thing I did was add notes back to dock (I have had notes hidden nice 9.0 beta, it synced with iCloud by itself, perfect.

Also I went apple + system preferences + general + tick automatically hide & show menu bar

just like

apple + system preferences + dock + tick automatically hide & show dock

love the extra screen area.

Mines seems fine. Just started around 30 minutes ago. Estimated at 40 minutes from now which sounds about right.

I think it's an issue with the Apple servers as w/ speedtest, I get 53.44Mbps download speed with Telus Internet (Canada). It's a bit better though w/ 8.8.8.8 DNS; however, its still hovering around 12-16 hours. :(

I would pause and reboot, you don't lose what you have already downloaded

I don't think its Apple? Maybe some are just getting unlucky

19.29 Mbps (because I'm still downloading El Capitan).

Now its 17 minutes remaining. Went up to like an 1 hour while I used speedtest but then dropped back down to normal.

The way Apple is not allowing features to Canadian users (Apple pay, IPhone news app, etc), wouldn't be surprised is if Apple is limiting Canadian OS X users from downloading El Capitan quickly.

Aren't those different though? If Apple can't get businesses/publishers to support them like they can in US, they're not going to get it.
