Seeing the seam is perfectly normal but those don’t look right at all. I would get them replaced.
I could say the same but that is actually a gap and after wearing them for a bit or pressing down on them they become incredibly uncomfortable and it feels like a pinch or scratch. I am going to get them replaced but if you don't mind me asking, do you just pack everything including the AirPods and cable into the box like new and get a replacement for free when you take it to the Apple store? (which is where I got it from)

I have purchased three pairs in the past month and a half and all looked like crap out of the box. Returned them each the next day after purchase. Seems quality control is way off with these. One pair and the only pair I had that I actually tried on had a bad seam alignment that would scratch/irritate my ears. I am tempted to try to purchase one more pair because I want to like these but cannot accept something like what you have pictured for $168 after tax.
Yeah, I agree, it pisses me off. Especially how this is the first time I've seen defects in Apple products I have owned and I'm going to get a replacement and see whats up with the next ones...

Ironically I picked up another pair today and although slightly better, I am not sure its within my tolerance for keeping them. Maybe I am just being nit picky but don't understand why the seam is so obvious on Airpods and not Earpods. Putting aside the functionality and the fact that its an Apple product, the price tag is laughable compared to the quality of construction. Obviously some could care less and just use them for what they are...which is great but I am not that person. I am curious how you make out with your replacements.
