You mean subjectively?
Z3C beats 5S in almost every aspect
Battery life is wonderfull
Some users showed their battery life stats, there are over 12 days without charging it
12 days and still 35% remains
(very light use)
In my case, with moderate use, i only charge twice per week (every 4 days only)
Could your 5S do that?
Oh wait, you must charge it every night :(

Under standard battery life measurements (same nits, same performance; not brightness percentage and percentage of CPU) the 5s is right up there in the top devices (wifi browsing battery life and so on).

And iOS devices use almost nothing if not in use and with everything disabled, like what you mentioned.

The z3c might still be better, but is it worthy the money and what you lose? (speed, support, iOS).

to each is own, but you will easily findout out that almost nobody will go from an 5s to an android device, no matter what.

That classic iOS vs Android
Up to everyone its own preference
5S isnt the best compact on the market, there are alternatives like someone else mentioned above
Z3C, Moto X, Galaxy Alpha
For instance, i have not everything disabled but my Z3C has literally twice of 5S battery life with standard settings
Z3C definitely worth money ;)

- This Z3C reminds me there is some iPhone 4S similarity in its design, i very like it since i am huge fan of iPhone 4S (one of best phone i ever had)
- Battery life, wonderful, all reviews showed datas, you cant ignore it
- Waterproof
- SD card slot

The only thing i dislike, its Android itself,
But i had same reproach for iOS either
Both OS, i reach their limits and it annoy me

a better place
Just a sample of my battery life on the Alpha despite its 1800mah battery it has decent battery for me, easily comparable to the M8 and S5 I had earlier with their bigger batteries.

23+ hours on battery and 4 hours screen on time with 11% battery left...

I ordered the Z3C on Amazon the other day and I'm going to give it a try. Amazon's return policy during the holidays is pretty liberal so I have until the end of Jan to return it if it doesn't work out for me.

Saw the rumor that Apple may come out with a 4" iPhone again next cycle so that's encouraging.

Either way, I'm looking forward to playing around with the Z3C & Android.

May i suggest to add tempered glass on both side + a case or better a bumper?
But it could not be really necessary if you add tempered glass on both side.
Rather more for grip hand in order to feel it less slippery.
It has been known that Z3C might be fragile
One drops can break screen
There are plenty of good tempered glass (Orzly is my favourite)
You can order back tempered glass as well from Ebay or Aliexpress (Chinese OEMs but still as good as all these us/eur famous brands)
Go check on XDA, Z3 Compact section for further details
There are also some tips for newcomers into Android world, a plenty of settings can be changed for getting better battery life (many default settings will consume battery life for nothing like Google sync)
Give a nice try for this excellent phone, you wont regret it ;)

Thanks for the recommendations! I did also buy a slim clear case. I usually don't use screen protectors but may consider it after I get a feel for the phone, see what it's like with case on, etc.

I've been playing around with the S4 Mini to test out android so I know how to disable certain apps, but these are all helpful comments. :)

Sony doesnt use Gorilla Glass, some sources claim they use Gorilla, some others the opposite, Dragon Trail
Anyway, screen can be easily scratched unlike real screens with Gorilla Glass (iPhone, Galaxy...)
