Um, maybe you should research first.

Tmobile Sidekick 1 - 3: best plans out there.

Unlimited sms, unlimited internet, unlimited emails and free AIM/Yahoo/MSN IMs. I'm stickin' to that for now.

If iPhone does that (above) then I'm going for it. If not, then nope.

Yes, I understand that ... HOWEVER, I have *NOT* had a sidekick. The plans I was talking about was standard and/or PDA plans. NOT sidekick. If you notice, I also pointed out that the sidekick data plan and text plans are different from standard and/or PDA plans.

Sounds to me like the iPhone isn't for you.

I see some people are saying the lack of ichat on the iphone, isnt a big deal. Well I am sorry to say, you are wrong. ... They seem to be wanting to force your hand of purchasing a text message plan, which honestly, is incredibly greedy.

I have to say, YOU are wrong and your arguments make no sense. Just because you would rather have an iChat/AIM client doesn't mean everyone else does. I personally would rather use SMS.

NONE!!! of my family, friends, or co-workers use chat programs. However, they all have cellphones which are capable of SMS (BTW, you aren't required to have an SMS plan to SMS, just an SMS capable phone).

Don't buy it. But wasting your time complaining about it is not going to change anything.

calm down, everyone. i had a SE T630 that had AIM that charged me for IMs, and my razr v3xx uses data for IM. It just depends on what client it is. no one is wrong for saying it charges SMS or data. now, i do hope the iphone had IM on it, as every phone at&t offers has AIM/MSN/YHOO on it. if it doesnt, then it would be a silly mistake. so what if you dont use it, why does it bother you if its on there? it needs to be on the device if apple is going to sell it at a premium price.

Or you could not be an idiot and make such grand generalizations. My incoming texts are free. I don't pay a dime for a text message received from another phone, regardless of the carrier.

Your whole post is pretty much nonsense. Not everyone uses AIM but, like someone above me said, almost everyone has a cell phone. I talk to more of my friends on SMS than on IM any day. I guess it's a shame that all of your friends exist only online, but for real-world use, SMS is going to work great for a huge majority of people.

I have cingular and it is 10 cents for sent and received message, if you dont have a text plan.

None of your family, friends, or coworkers use chat programs? Wow.. You must suck at the internet.

Are you like 12 years old? Mommy pays your cell bill, so you dont see what you get charged. They charge you for BOTH incoming AND outgoing text messages. Just because you cant read your own bill, doesnt mean they dont charge you.

I understand that you wrote this in reply to someone else's comments.. BUT... I'm 23, my mommy doesn't pasy my bills and I'm fully aware of what I'm being charged for. My plan allows for 200 outgoing messages and UNLIMITED incoming messages. To make that clear, I do not get charged for each incoming message. It probably isn't right of you to assume that just because you have a certain plan or to assume that all plans are the same that you can tell other people they are wrong... just a thought
