Proudly made in a foreign country to get the cheapest construction and labour, but hey, we're all-American!

Like almost every Apple product?

Being made in a foreign country has absolutely no bearing on quality, especially being made in China, where some of the highest end manufacturing is occurring right now. Say what you want about their terrible leaders, but it's not bad for that reason. It's all about which company you partner with, and how much you're willing to pay. They cater to every market segment.

Yeah I hardly hear people talk about Snap anymore. Now it's all Tiktok.

It's funny how these social media trends come and go and here I am just staying on Telegram chatting with my friends and don't end up using any of them.
Yup; I don't even use Snapchat at all either, as it's mostly FB and Instagram for me

I'm honestly shocked they're still around and haven't given up the ghost yet (ba dum chhhh) given their hardware failures and all; I'm sure this one will be the next

If Snap is dead, how is it 8th place on Apple's App Store list of "Must-Have Apps" and #17 for "Top Free Apps"?

It's #2 on Google Play store for "Popular Apps" and #22 for "Editor's Choice Apps"

It all comes down to demographics. Teens top 3 social media apps are: TikTok, Snapchat, and Instagram per Pew Research

TikTok, Snapchat and Instagram remain popular among teens: Majorities of teens ages 13 to 17 say they use TikTok (63%), Snapchat (60%) and Instagram (59%).

and Piper Sander
  • TikTok remains teens’ most favored social media platform so far in 2023, though its favorability fell one percentage point from the fall of 2022 with a 37% share, according to Piper Sandler’s Spring 2023 Taking Stock with Teens survey.
  • Behind TikTok is Snap (27%) and Instagram (23%). TikTok has been the top ranking social media app since spring 2022, when it unseated Snap.
Teens use TikTok to be entertained, Snap to message each other instead of texting and IG to see what their friends are doing.

Normally having to issue a full refund on an entire product line would be a big hit for a company, but this one failed so hard and so quickly it's not much more than a rounding error on their financials, so that's good news for Snap.

Would probably be less-bad news, though, if the company had actually turned a profit for even a single quarter in over 7 years. Adding another 1% to the $1.4 billion they've already lost this fiscal year won't make much difference, but it ain't helping.

Plenty of people still use Snapchat, I'm sure, but the company's financials are currently not what you'd call enticing.

How are batteries still being made and used in devices that are not fit for purpose like this??

It looks like the entire lot of batteries they used are at risk… thats bad! Where did they source them and are any other manufacturers affected?
Actually, it looks like a custom battery cell (from the external product pictures). It also looks to be about the size of an 18650 cell and I think if they had just used an off the shelf 18650 cell they would have avoided this.

I have one of the fly more bundles. I thought it was kinda cool when it was announced and pre-ordered it. Was fun for a bit and all that, now it collects dust. Thought about selling it but never did. Now this. Pleasant surprise. Now I need to decide to return it for my money or keep it and possibly sell it later as a relic. But more than likely, Snap is going to remove it from the app so it will be useless.

Return it is!

Yeah the FAQ says pixy hardware features will be deprecated in app by mid-Feb

Like my spectacles, the pixy was for me a vacation novelty that I always packed for adventures.

Certainly it’s better to have loved, lost, and gotten a full refund!

Was a very fun product. Wonder whether it will ever make a comeback

Yeah it was fun while it lasted. Glad I get a refund though :)
