I completed my clean install of Sierra on my 2010 MBP with 4gb ram and it's running sweet!!! Very snappy, like a brand new machine. Have installed CS5.5 too and some other apps. So far so good...

And it's running much better than the El Cap upgrade I did yesterday, but that's to be expected from a clean install vs. an upgrade...

ok, so this will be done soon also by me... ElCap runs well on my 2012 MBP15" (16GB RAM, SSD) but why not a clean install ?

Yeah definitely the way to go. As long as you don't mind reinstalling all your applications. Well worth it though I would say. I was a bit worried about my hardware being so old, but everything seems to be running great. Good luck!
