Unfortunately, I did the airplane test yesterday. With Wi-Fi off and the screen dimmed all the way to the setting before all-dark, I don't think it lasted more than 3.5 hours. I could be wrong of course because the battery meter showed everything from 5+ hours to 10 minutes in that timespan.

the battery meter is def. less acurate on the mba then the mbp

You guys need to completely drain the battery then leave the power adapter plugged in till it says battery finishing charge 100%. Once that happens unplug the power adapter, shut down the MBA, plug adapter back in, turn MBA back in.
My battery health is no longer 97%. Everything is working smoother and the life is lasting crazy long. Unless you are doing something intensive I imagine you all should be getting 5+ hours

I ran mine down until it is 0. plugged it in and now it says 10 hours until full charge. Is that normal?

During my normal work time I am getting around 6 hours of battery time of actual use.

Yes 10 hours until full charge when you plug it in is normal. Once it says 100% istat may even tell you like a crazy number till complete. The battery indicator will say battery finishing charge. As long as istat says 100% then your safe to go through with unplugging the adapter and shutting off the MBA and replugging it in then turning the MBA back on.
