I'd be interested to know if you feel your new M1 lives up to all of the hype?

I'm quite happy with mine, and I've got used to the 13" size (coming from a 24" iMac.)

Very pleased. My MBA gets a bit hotter than expected during long gaming sessions but no biggie. A really nice machine and I do not regret downgrading from the 16 inch MBP

Yes, I have a Mac mini and it's fantastic. Far faster than I expected, even runs WOW great. I'm keeping it. I would not go back to Intel macs now.

And this is only the first generation.

I had the MBA M1 16GB/512GB/8C GPU for a few weeks. I returned it last week due to that I was unhappy with the reddish tint on the screen and the mushy and slippery keyboard. Last week I got the MBP 8GB/512GB and I'm happier with it more than the MBA that I returned. However, I have an itch to order the MBP 16GB/512GB, but I'm not waiting a about month or more to wait for it. Hopefully the build dates and shipping dates improve after Christmas, that will make my decision easier to get the MBP 16GB/512GB.

I upgraded from a Late 2011 MBP (8GB ram and 500GB SSD) - and it seemed peppy for what it was. I bought this last week, on a whim, but am very pleased with it so far. Great battery life, quiet and fast. I'm happy with the 8GB of ram, I wasn't paying $235 for 8GB more lol..

My base M1 MBA is fine so far. I haven't had the chance to put it through its paces because its the end of year and my work has basically finished, so there is nothing I really need to be doing on it. But so far no problems or issues. Silent and cool. In fact a bit too cool... like it's not even on!

I'm coming for a 2013 15" rMBP so I miss the screen real estate and some things on Big Sur annoy me like the new icons in all the programs. But once the 16" comes out I'm getting that and the wife gets the MBA so it's all good. The 2013 was starting to play up so I had to get a new computer. I didn't want it to die suddenly like my 2012 imac did and be without a computer for several weeks. Especially considering it's a work machine. Only thing is it took 1 month to arrive...

I wanted a 16 GB/512 GB MBA, but didn't want to wait for the shipping times so I went with the 8/8, 8/512 and am quite happy with it... had a Surface Laptop 3 that I sold (at a fair loss) to cover it... it was a definite upgrade!

I am very pleased with my M1 Mac Mini. I bought a 2018 Intel Mac Mini to replace an old iMac 2010 and I hated it and macOS Mojave+Catalina to the point where I made it a boot camp only machine and then eventually sold it.

I was missing GarageBand and some Mac exclusive apps and decided to give it one more go with the new chips and am glad I did. M1 and Big Sur have sort of renewed my faith in Macs again so to speak, no software bugginess or weird Bluetooth and WiFi problems (at least for me). Of course there’s plenty of time for that to happen, but at least it wasn’t from day one this time.

Very pleased. Runs cool, even under sustained load for days in a row.

16Gb Mac mini.

No concerns about fixed SSD. It's not going to wear out before the computer is completely obsolete.

Extremely happy. Have had dozens of computers in my life and this impressed me the most. It’s really a huge leap. Even just for casual purposes. I streamed 4 movies back to back today and still had 10% battery left.

Yep. It runs so much cooler than my 2017 MBP. I charge it every couple of days instead of needing to keep it plugged in 100% of the time ... If only the screen-size was larger.

It's really nice but it didn't really work all that well with the target use I bought it for (RDP into work PC using iPad as second monitor). I couldn't make Microsoft RDP to use the iPad as a second display. With RDP display resolution set to "Default for this display", the screen real estate was just too small. Tried to switch it to 1920x1080 or 1680x1050 but that didn't work properly either (part of the remote desktop was cut off).

I'm also making more mistakes due to the keyboard and remapping the modifier keys didn't really make me less error-prone. Didn't realize how useful separate Backspace and Delete keys were.

I ended up using an older 15.6" laptop with 1920x1080 resolution and built-in number pad. The fan was loud and I had to use a food tray so it wouldn't burn my legs but it did the job and I was way more productive on it.

I'm still keeping the M1 MBA, though. Apart from not being ideal for the WFH thing, it's still the nicest laptop I've used.

I returned mine. MBP 16/512. It was quite and cool, but had a few glitches in the lid hinges that was making noise. Not a huge fan of the current Touch Bar (had not had Touch Bar before). ended up buying the same computer but Intel because I found it for 50% less elsewhere... but obviously, same Touch Bar, so overall I am not a fan of this form factor... just bought it for the price.

Will be most likely getting the next gen! Also want more USB C, 2 is not enough!

Even happier than I thought I would be. This machine single handedly erased every issue that caused me to switch to iPad Pro as my full time laptop a few years back. With the heat, performance, and fan noise issues all gone and battery life doubled, there is just no reason for me not to jump back over to a MacBook at this point. The iPad app experience has been very hit and miss so far, but I think that's going to get better over time and will eventually be worth the wait.

Got the base MBP M1 when there was a surprise offer that put it at same price as the base MBA M1 (newer before seen such big a discount on a new Apple product).

Happy with instant on, snappy, amazing battery life. Basically how all laptops should’ve been from the beginning. We use it for casual computing.

Don’t mind having only two ports as we use USB-C hubs for external monitor/keyboard/mouse/ethernet/Power. We have two configurations and it works fine with both, even charging (Dell WD15/Dell U2515H the other a Lenovo monitor P27H-20 with built in hub)

Also pleased with Big Sur. We have used iPhones/iPads for years but this is our first Mac, we like that it resembles IOS a little, making the transition easier.
