Seems to me OP has not heard of E-Sim

It must be a US thing as I don't understand these minor suitableness on low band and Volt or a few niche things some US carriers have but 2 phones and multiple E-Sim especially for testing seems a solution

When I lived in US we just bought unlocked phones outright

I know some users note differences in cell reception but it there really that much difference in DL speed etc that it warrants 4 purchases, when E-Sim can get you around many issues

I could care less about e sim when I have the money to do what I want but thanks

So this thread is about "look at me, I have money". I promise you, nobody is impressed.

No it’s not. That’s my response to the user who said I should use e sims specifically implying I could save money.... but idc either way. Lol

I was not specifically implying you save money simply the hassle and considering you wanted to test the results would be more reliable if you were using the same handset with 4 or more sims etc

Buying one phone per sim to test is just daft when you can decide after your results to buy which 4 or more as you like, but as you wish, considering your only buying cheap IPhones over the more expensive Samsung Flip and Fold its a minor consideration

Well, some people have four cars or more so not that crazy. ;) However, a few things to consider maybe...

Consider the opportunity cost of those four phones. Maybe you know this already, but your monthly phone expenses alone could probably cover the monthly interest rate for a $150k mortgage. Might not be relevant to you but just to put things in perspective...

Also, having four phone lines on one single person would probably have a negative impact on your credit score. Is it worth it? Again, maybe these are company lines or something, or family plans, in which case maybe it doesn't apply.

I would just buy the phones outright and sell off if/when you get bored. :)

Huh I also want to KEEP the phones that work best on each network atm meaning now and going into next fall when a new batch of phones come out when I usually buy my phones. Sorry if there was some miscommunication. I want to keep the phones I buy. That’s why I purchased the s20 ultra but ultimately it couldn’t stop me from my love of my Notes. And NO. I already own the note 20 ultra. I’ve preordered the Fold 2 and I’ll be buying 2 ‘cheap’ lol iPhone 12s on different carriers (except I’m buying two Verizon phones) lol please don’t try to bash iPhones.

I am able to pay my mortgage fine and I have a family home that I inherited and it’s paid off etc etc so I’m fine :) and I don’t see how having four phones can have a negative affect on my credit unless I’m missing payments etc which I don’t. Got to love the ingenuity in Autopay I use to sell phones a while ago but these days since loopholes/plans have changed I buy to keep my phones

No I understood you wanted to keep the phones just do not understand why your buying carrier versions and not unlocked, so you can swap your sims around with ease and do your testing etc etc

Not bashing IPhone just noting that they are cheaper than the Fold especially as you intend to buy two IPhones (different sizes and price), think your being over protective here :)

Tbh the only phones I would buy and have bought unlocked/full price are some iPhones. But I don’t want to keep swapping sims. I’d rather just pick up any phones and take it out whenever I want to test them/use them. I agree the Fold is a little bit more expensive(idk how much the iPhone 12 will be) but with the $550 off they gave me for my trade in it’s less expensive And AT&T gave me $1000 off my Note Ultra for my trade in. So overall good deals.
Idk if I’m buying two different iPhones. It just depends on what features etc (5g bands) are not available on the cheaper models. I hope they all at least have all necessary 5g bands. Then I’ll buy the Pro Max and the smallest iPhone 12 best of both sizes. One on Verizon and one T-Mobile. But if not, I’ll buy two Pro Max*
