That's Jon Prossers guess... he also guessed the iMac wrong but it could be the direction Apple will take. Seems legit, they're restricted by the usb-c thickness. I guess the base with the keyboard will be something like the iPad Pro 2021, maybe a bit thicker for the implementation of the keyboard and a bigger battery.

Easy, you take the thickness of an usbC port..and add 3 mm and that will be the thickness of the base, of the alleged next MBA

but that lid thickness...means we will stick with 720p webcam for the MBA while the MBP will get the 1080p thanks to its ipad pro like design
But again, the 720p with its signal procc from the M1 today is good enough for the consumers and is letting apple to make the air even more portable..probably Apple is targeting around 2-2.5 pounds with the weight

people said that J Prossers guess the imac well , also the airtag..so, that particularly source of him, is legit
nobody believed the imac will come in colours

I think the big difference was that he only knew the iMac would come in colours, but he hadn’t seen the device. With this MacBook Air he has actually seen photos of a real device, so these renders are much closer to reality.

Regarding the thinness, the size of the USB-C port says it all :)

yep and also the bottom shape is no longer there..so 3-4 mm from there too

Isn‘t it an option that this device will actually be the MacBook instead of the Air…..

yeah it must be crazy thin to see

Macbook Air be just 4mm thick (USB C is 2.6mm thick and audio jack is 3.5mm) for the base or without the screen lid.

why cant they just slab the m1 to the 12 inch Macbook.

because people wants bigger displays...based on sells, 13" is the starting point for a laptop..also the 17" is too big...so most of the current laptops displays are between 13"-16"
Maybe this new 13" laptop will be called just Macbook

i still wonder if this macbook is thinner than the macbook air despite the naming

If there is a new mba. How soon will it be made for sale?

idk most likely end of the year or early 2022

they say this is the more expensive air

since the current macbook air is the entry level.

they should just interchange the name tho

make the entry level as just the macbook

this thinner one the macbook air

I highly doubt that lid will be as thin as it is shown(from an angle btw) in these renders.
I dont want the whole machine to be thin AF, because I need good keyboard, large battery and some I/O as well, not just single USB C port.

of course the lid wont be that thin

the base most likely is

if you want some I/O, beyond the 2 usb c and 1 audio jack, they're offering it to macbook pro

The Air is precisely meant to be as thin AF, the one to remove legacy stuff. It’s the MBP the one that has to be balanced.

Balanced how? Price wise :D ? Seriously, just gimme full sized SD card slot and at least 3x USB C 4.0 ports, and I will be happy MBA buyer :).

Now, I can live with dongles on iPP(aside from lack of 3.5mm, Surface line is better in this regard imho), even current M1 Macbooks are ok’ish with just 2 usb c ports and 3.5mm(dont understand how could they remove 3.5mm from iPad and call it Pro friendly move tho) given how well priced they have gotten now and will be even better priced when updated MBP’s and MBA’s arrive.
But on redesigned machines I expect better port selection, its not only pro’s who use sd cards and hdmi(yes, usb c tb should replace it). It has to do with marketing etc, not with “pro vs regular” users.
However, I do think that usb c connector should become be-all-end-all connector of them all.
Oh and, what if these renders are those of Macbook, given that it might come with single usb c(no pictures of other side tho?)?

Usbc on both sizes and headphone jacon also on the right
And the current magic keys are 1mm thick so both are ok as now
Maybe the battery will be different

the one who made the renders said that the source saw the device having 2 USB C's one on each side with one side having the 3.5mm jack.

again the Macbook Air wont have a full sized sd card and more than 2 usb slot, because those features doesnt take up the majority of the market

as long as macbook air is still the number 1 selling laptop, Apple wont bring it back.

if this render is accurate, ofc it will be

yeah what I mean replying to the user naming this render as just plain MACBOOK which will make it thinner than MACBOOK AIR

tho Apple made that before

but maybe Apple can twist the Air scheme stating lighter in features, not in size. LOL.

these renders might be for the more expensive Air (or just plain Macbook, as the user i quoted suggest, depends on what they name on it) as the current Macbook Air will still remain as the entry level macbooks.

Crazy that Apple has been able to use colors as a distraction. Apple when are you planning on upgrading the 720p camera.

they already did..we have 1080p now
And the macbook air will remain with 720p because of physics...the next mbp will have 1080p thanks to the design language of the lid
