Just look at the iPad pro. It’s pretty much the same thickness of the usb-c port plus a tiny bit. remember the iPad has the exactly same internal components as the MacBooks now, plus a display build in. So the MacBook thickness will be the iPad Pro thickness minus the display thickness

I wonder if people will be mad in an Air doesn’t have a wedge shape. I wouldn’t mind if it went away. It seems like it’s not very efficient for cramming as big a battery in a given physical footprint. The 13” MBP gets a lot better battery and is only like .25 lbs heavier.

Isn‘t it an option that this device will actually be the MacBook instead of the Air…..

I don’t think so. I think the Air is too valuable a name. The Air has undoubtedly been a more successful product than the MacBook.

And I don’t think they will sell both side by side. The Air is the consumer laptop, there’s no need for a MacBook.

I think I’d prefer the wedge but only because I’ve owned an 11” Air since 2011. I upgraded to the 2020 13” Intel MBP last September and find it so much heavier than the Air. I also missed the wedge shape, felt really comfortable.

That said, I take the point above about doing away with the wedge helping to improve the battery life. If I had a choice between the two, I’d definitely take battery life over the wedge.

Count me in the camp that’d welcome an 11” or 12” model though. I think for day to day use, the 11” MBA size was great for my use case. I don’t expect we’ll see one anytime soon again though.

In a van down by the river
Seeing this makes me happy i have an m1 air.

i dont like white keyboards. The thin lid makes me super nervous for a portable device.
Get an older Mac for being mobile and keep the new shiny white keys (you will start to like them) on the desk. :D

Don't deprive yourself of the new Air part 2 (better than ever with Van Gogh styling). :D

I don't like the form factor, the actual one is much much better for writing with that slight inclination. We'll see, in the meanwhile I am enjoying my brand new machine gpu-8, 16/512 GB, whose quality is far better than any other pc I owned before.
