No, but if you/he has house insurance it may well cover accidental damage.
If you fit it yourself that will void the warranty if anything else goes wrong

Perhaps, but aside from being dishonest, he may have to provide proof that the device is "insurable".
You'd still need to cover the deductable, and the premiums may increase as a result of the claim. You may just be better off pricing out the repair.

It isn't worth your trouble trying to do it yourself. The odds of messing something up are very high, and then you'd be out even more money.
I was going to suggest this as well, but the deductible is likely over $1,000, which really negates any benefit.

Home owner's insurance covers damage that can happen to your property (whether the house itself or possessions within the house).
However, like I wrote above, odds are that the deductible is as much as a new mbp or mb, so you wouldn't get much out of it.
Not to mention that if it was a higher res screen, it'll likely be even more.
If he purchased it with a credit card it may have accidental damage coverage. Have him check with his credit card issuer to see.

Well since you are low on cash, you should talk to him about it. It was an accident and I'm sure he understands, but you've got to help him buy a new one.

OP, if your friend did buy it with a credit card, he may have to pay the balance for it before it's covered (check the terms very carefully).
i didnt kick it. i pulled out my phone it slipped out of my hands and BARELY touched the screen. i had no idea these things were so fragile.
As may have been said previously, appeal to his sense of friendship and ask him to turn up any possibility of fixing it under insurance. He may have to bring his mother into it if you can't pay for it, just one of those things I'm afraid.

For some reason I read "kicked" in your OP. Sorry. If you dropped it from a height of 2-3 feet, that phone can gain a lot of speed and hence, force.
As for your other question, he might be able to call the CC company on his own if he has his own card (under her account). He can call himself as a card holder (which he would be) and get the details. Otherwise, I don't see anyway for him to get the exact details of her card without her.
And yes, in the interests of taking responsibility you might have to give him your MBP.
