I would just get a mini -either new, refurbish or from ebay.

It should be fine for the next 3 years. By then you could give her the macbook and just keep the mini hook it to your TV and use it as a media center.

That sounds like a good idea. It's something I wanted anyways.
The good and bad news is I restored the XP computer and so far it works. As I was doing this I was hoping it would crash lol.

The cost of a T7600 is halfway to a new mini. Very poor value, IMO. Furthermore, there is nothing anyone can do with the GMA950 to make it support more recent games. The new mini wins hands down.

Ya I agree that you can't game on the GMA 950, but his little girl is 10 almost 11 and I doubt she "games" much. If she's just using for what he said she was (iTunes and surfing the web) then the previous model will be sufficient and those are dirt cheap online like some have posted here.

The most she games is her Nintendo DS and every once in a while the Wii. So far she rather play outside than play video games (and I am VERY happy with that).

A Mac mini is decently fast.

Get the new one with DVD burner.

Anti-virus is suggested as is Applecare, but if you get neither, you probably have a 99% percent chance of no issue. This is my opinion having been Silicon Valley trained as a tech and network engineer, and worked on home and corporate workstations in the thousands (Mac and PC).

XP is fine, especially on newer machine, but if you can get a Mac. My 2 cents.
