So I jumped ship, from iPhone to Samsung 1 month on

So I have owned every iPhone from the 3G, Last month I had a choice, the iPhone 7 or the Galaxy S7. To be honest something about the last keynote really put me off Apple, It finally hit home that their devices are nothing special with a hell of a price tag, add to the fact the price of devices actually went up in the UK rather than down I decided to try the Samsung S7.

First off the thing is gorgeous but a damn finger print magnet, straight out the gate we had issues, with a 3000 mAh battery I was draining at 10% per hour when idle, after a lot of investigating turns out the culprit was wifi calling, I turned that off and well it lasts as long now as my old SE if not longer, the screen is just gorgeous and the camera to me is better than the SE but only slighter. I had used Android before and it always had lag somewhere, this phone has zero lag. The screen is 5.1 but it doesn't feel any bigger in the hand than the iPhone 6.

I have to say I am really happy with my purchase. I hate to say it but Apple to me feels like its going no where fast, same old same old with only slight improvements.

I'll be tempted to try out a pixel phone once they are out, but I won't ever go back to a touchwiz phone.

The note 7 had really nice hardware, but as soon as the possible recall was announced I returned it and decided to wait for the keynote. Perfectly happy with my 7 Plus though and don't see myself trying android again any time soon.

I loved Windows phone, I had a Lumia???? 640 I think? To me it was the perfect mix of iOS and Android but what killed it was the lack of apps, but not only that say for instance Spotify, the Windows Phone version acted like the very first version to ever be released on iOS, It was buggy with features missing and I could say the same for most apps that Windows phone actually had. Its a shame as I loved the live tiles and interface.

Its not an iPhone yes but for me this is the first Android i've had that actually works without any issues, well apart from the Wifi calling which I don't really need anyway. It runs like an iPhone in saying that it takes 4 gigs of ram and an octocore processor to do so.

Same here. I love vanilla Android but hate all the bling and other "enhancements" added by Samsung especially.

The coolest thing about Android is the ability to install a Finder from their app store. To manage files on iOS is to forever battle an OS that attempts to thwart the user's will at every turn. App-centric file management is better for some things, like audio and video files. Also books, though one wouldn't know it after trying to use iBooks. But sometimes file-centric file management is necessary and Apple's refusal to acknowledge this truth is extremely frustrating.

Example: I have a directory on my Mac filled with records and research on a cervical spine injury. It's organized and contains maybe a dozen different file types. There is literally no way to migrate it to my iPad short of using cloud storage. Yet I don't want to use cloud storage because the directory is too large. Why should I pay a monthly fee to use my iPad to read and view the files on my Mac Pro which are already backed up to two different physical locations?

It's like the iPad is designed to do only one thing well: buy content from Apple's stores for consumption.

Let's hope Apple eventually comes good and improves file management. Add in ability to customise the theme throughout the OS, and i think IOS will be near perfect.

Good luck with it. Trying both is required before having an unbiased opinion, imo. So many people hate one or the other but haven't given both a chance. I've got coworkers that are so Anti-Apple it's amazing - yet they've never tried it.

I started out with the first HTC MyTouch to the Droid 1, to HTC Thunderbolt, to the iPhone 4s, iPhone 5, Moto X, Note 3, iPhone 6+, and now iPhone 6s+.

I'll never do Samsung again. The forced adware, laggy UI, terrible battery longevity (my oem samsung note 3 battery had almost no capacity after 1 year). Now that I have a Macbook Air and Mac Mini - leaving Apple seems like something I'll never do. (iMessage, answering calls on my Macs without having to go get my phone).

I have a Samsung Galaxy Tab S2 to use my Android apps and read. I also manage my Google Play family music subscription from there. But yeah, it just can't compare to an iPad. The forced apps really piss me off on a device I paid for.

Yeah, but he gets on a mac forum and says apple is going no where fast with their iPhone range so he jumped ship to Samsung.

He has bit of a rant about the Samsung screen that shows finger prints and the crappy battery life out of the box until,he turned off wifi calling.

He's going down a well trodden path and will be back when he realises he was wrong.

I rock a LG G4 that costed me less than 300 euros after cashback and I love it. Still I was all set for the iPhone because everything else in our house is Apple. But like you said, the keynote on the 7/7+ was a complete dissapointment to me. Just a rehash, nothing exciting. Semi-waterresistant, no wireless charging but they did remove the jack ffs. Still a 720p screen. In 2016?! A fugly camerabump? I can certainly understand you got put off. It's just not good enough, however much they try to sugarcoat it ('courage' my ...).
I still want to jump though, but they have to do much better next year.

Reload, reload reload, pretend something has loaded but actually...reload, reload, reload. Want to compare two lots of odds on a betting app...well nice try but when you left the last app, it had to reload and has thrown you to the home screen! Reload reload reload. Swipe back? oop nope that doesn't work because that would mean going back between two apps.

That's one of my complaints with my iPhone 6, but it only has 1GB of memory. The iPhone 5SE you had has 2GB and the new iPhone 7+ has 3GB (but the iPhone 7 non-Plus only has 2GB).

I really do wish Apple would just put 4GB in them and be done, the memory is so little that apps constantly close when switching around it's infuriating.

Glad you are having a good experience. I purchased a Note 7 when it was released and it was super laggy within 3 days. My keyboard would also freeze up on group messages every single time. (This was before the battery exploding issue) Returned phone and got the 7 plus. Very happy with my decision

I go through this every upgrade. I toy with the idea of going android, and believe me, while I wouldn't necessarily consider myself an apple fanboy, I have always loved the products and sung their praises. The latest phones (from Samsung at least) dangle so many carrots it becomes hard not to bite - VR (which I really wish was supported on iPhone) , the display, the camera, the s-pen, and other features.And the design is great especially compared to the plus iPhone. I gave Apple a pass on the original 6 plus being it was their first foray into phablet territory, and I fully expected them to make form factor corrections to it by now but that has yet come to pass. But then I consider my experience with android, and it hasn't been good, and consider why I have my apple products, and always wind up staying with Apple - I bought a nexus tablet a few years back , and while the tablet worked fine, the battery life was atrocious. I wasn't thrilled with many of the applications and wound up getting an iPad mini and the experience was so much better. I use a samsung phone for work, and I find the software irritating to use and the battery life is equally horrible. With apple I get iMessage which I think is great, the cloud service so every thing "just works " across all my devices, reliable updates and the best (most of the time) customer service. But I do admit, every year it gets a bit harder to not give in to temptation and make the switch.

samsung makes some great phones! I had the Note 4 until a few weeks ago when the screen broke, and they sent me the Note 5 for replacement. Build quality is really good. But i don't like the Note 5 as much as i liked the Note 4.

With that said, I will be getting the I7P since i haven't had the iPhone since the 3G and 3Gs. If i really dislike the new iPhone, i am only stuck with it for a year.
