I find it hilarious that you're saying that asking for a good experience out of the box is asking for perfection. It's people putting up with problems and thrusting it on the users to fix it that had caused software from almost every company to be crap lately.

watchOS came out in a crap state.

Let's stop putting up with these crap experiences. We need software companies to be held responsible when they throw out a crap product. Stop apologizing for them, stop blaming the user. This isn't the 90's anymore, hardware is good enough to where lag is from the incompetence of developers.

I'm no hardware nor software expert. But I'm pretty sure if a company could give birth to a miracle device and OS version, they would not hesitate to do so.

If the cons of devices of today outweighed the pros, then I would 100% agree with you. But the pros of Apple and Samsung devices outweigh the cons at a high ratio.

Why are we asking people to pay premium prices and then work on it to make the experience lag-free? Serious question.

What kind of lag are we talking here? Lag that makes an horrible experience, or lag the is only noticeable in comparison to something slightly faster? Can you state in detail.

Since the thread title is about iPhone and Samsung. My experience with the 6S, 7+, S7 edge, and Note 7 is basically lag free. Now if someone has a painful experience with lag on either phone, then it's either an defective phone, or an issue that can be solved.

And with the S7 edge and Note 7, the ONLY thing I did was disable 2 apps. That's it. They both run as smooth as butter.

With Android phones, the spectrum of user experience is much wider due to having a much wider range of user control. The iPhone has a small spectrum of user experience cause it's tightly controlled by Apple. Anyone that jailbreaks just to have features and control thats available by default on Android, knows how laggy the iPhone can get.

Now to answer your question .... You don't have to pay a premium. My Blu R1 HD is also basically lag free for only $60. But if you want all the features, best displays, biometrics, build quality, fast charging, wireless charging, duel speakers, duel cameras, NFC, water resistance, and etc, of course they are going to charge more.

The guy you responded to said pure trash. That tells me it has ruined the experience.

Well, this case can be attributed to user error. The guy kept a 6 plus (i.e. the one that bends quite easily) in his back pocket while sitting. The phone most likely bent enough to damage the battery and that in turn ignited the explosion. Seriously, who keeps large phablets in their back pockets especially when sitting down?

Agreed. Having owned a 6+ for over 1.5 years and my 6s+ for almost half a year.... I would seriously damage my phone if I sat down with it in my back pocket.

That said, I've always carried my phones in my back pocket but have always taken them out before sitting down... except once with my Note 3 (which survived (sat down on my bed with it in my pocket)). Note 3 did get some impressive bendable stress test results.

Back to topic, I can't even bend over and pick something off the ground without taking the phone out of my back pants pocket.

To be fair people developed a habit of keeping their steel iPhone 4 or 4S in back pocket without issue so it's not uncommon to carry that habit forward when upgrading to a newer model and back pockets are big compared to front pockets that can be too shallow for the Plus. It's more of a design issue than user error since iPhone 6S series fixes the bending.

That's not how a software or hardware design process works. Sometimes the maker does not see all the needs of their customers and has to redesign to better respond to that even if the starting product is fine. Likewise software development is complex and as it is written by people mistakes will be made, sometimes ineffective ways to do things will be done because of a middleware requirement or deadlines or whatever. Just lots of things that don't mean the developers are lazy or incompetent. It's generally an iterative process and also means plenty of learning for the designers and developers.

That said, enough testing should be done that ensures your phone and its OS runs smoothly at least with the default apps that come with it. However 3rd party developers range from top notch to barely good enough to be called developers and sometimes the crappy ones do **** that can bring a phone to its knees. Even something like Facebook has tons of bugs that stem just from small mistakes.

It's not a design issue if someone chooses to sit on their device.

Personally I'd rather not have electricity beamed over a few feet, dread to think what it will do to your body over time.

That's what I'm worried about. I'm afraid we're all doomed when long-distance wireless becomes standard.

Right guys I really hate to admit you were right but.... You were right and here I am again back to an iPhone. Yep bought a 32gb 6S and the S7 is on eBay as we speak.

So what went wrong? The S7 is a beautiful device, and its the first android I used that didn't lag or go sluggish but that's where the good points end. For me battery life was the main issue, I was constantly having to mother it by turning things off etc in order to get it through the day, I couldn't use wifi calling at all for example or the phone would be dead in hours, for some reason Wifi calling drained the phone big time, I was constantly worrying about battery life rather than enjoying the phone itself.

Then we have the camera, its made out to be excellent and I guess it is good but I found the software on the phone over sharpens everything, the photos look good on screen but on the computer they are nothing special, I old SE took better photos.

Then comes support. The supplied earphones and charger cable both died within 1 month. I contacted Samsung, and it was a painful experience, you can never get through on the phone so I emailed, then you have to prove everything such as your proof or purchase etc, no taking a serial number there and be done. Once they accepted that they said it would take 28 days to receive my replacements. I mean I am used to walking into an Apple store and swapping out with no hassle, but nope not happening with Samsung, in fact even finding a Samsung store in the UK is a task which is why I emailed them, we have 50+ Apple stores in the UK, I count about 5-6 Samsung stores none of which are near me.

So here I am, back with my tail between my legs.

Let's see how it goes for me. I got an S7 Edge two days ago and it's now carrying my main SIM. I also have an iPhone 6s from work and currently it has my work SIM in it. Let's see which one ends up with my main SIM in a month or so.

i dont get it. a month ago you said same about Nexus 5X. exactly using the same words.

I had a little affair with a 5X for a month and came back with my tail between my legs.

so why do even try, when you always come back in a month? and i never actually saw any photos taken with these phones - only photos from your iphone during the same time you had nexus/galaxy S1/S2/S3/S4/S5/S6 or S7.

After owning S5 and coming back to iphone user, you said that you are not going back, and hence you got S6 and now S7.

it makes me only wonder, did you ever have any other phone than iphone.

so true, but if a person says how angry he is about android issues and never going back, he still buy another android phone and especially S7 after owning S1-S6.

this what i dont understand here - but i quess i dont need to understand it either...
