I was wondering about this too...I live in Maine and there is heavy french-speaking here, and I do occasionally text in french, so it's a shame to not have é especially. I'm not fluent in le français, but I can manage to get along in a french conversation. If anything, I like to speak french with my friends as a joke. iPhone hates jokes.
