I am amazed that none of the professional sites have addressed this but if Apple hasn't finally seen fit to add in a Calculator for the iPad things are getting pretty sloppy over there. It's the principle of the matter. It's a big middle finger to the customer and says they will never bother to do so. Or bother with optional keyboard layouts. Besides what they offer now.

Originally there was no calculator because of some obscure legislation which said they had to have a difference between the iPhone and the iPad, so the calculator and the stocks and weather weren't on the iPad to start with. Then with the massive rise of the App Store and plenty of free options, I'm sure they thought it might be a good idea to push people towards the App Store as they get 30% of every purchase from the paid apps.

Is this really worth moaning about when there are free calc apps available that work so well? Have you tried PCalc Lite?

Not wanting to cloud those overwhelming fanboy glasses of yours BUT there isn't a single Calculator App available, free or purchased, that matches the simplicity and straight-forwardness of the Calculator App on the iPhone - and that's a fact, Jack.
I guess if you like a pink or orange background with a small narrow(light) font on the keyboard - no comparison to the iPhone App.
I use Spotlight Search for basic calculations. Much quicker.
It's free and simple, if you want you can buy other themes - but it meets the requirements you outlined. There are plenty of apps out there, you just need to find one that works for you.
Apple, struggling to make a profit, decided not to stress out their software engineers by asking for a calculator app...
Barely readable HARDLY meets the requirements AND buying the theme pack just buys more swishy unreadable backgrounds.
Looks like candy crush saga and has inapp purchase. There's no decent simple calculator in the AppStore.

This is the one I use on the iPad I also installed on my iPhone because it has a watch app too.
It's pretty simple and looks like the iPhone app. You can get all the tacky stuff but the default is perfect.
There are a bunch of free simple calculator apps. Just type calculator into the search and at least a dozen of those are simple calculators. The first one that comes up looks just like the iPhone app.

I use pcalc...it has a widget that when you swipe down it is available, very simple.

You're complaining about the free colors of Numerical when the stock calculator app is orange, black, and gray. What? The calculator app is probably the ugliest Apple app.

To be honest, it is not that important. There are good options in the App Store, the ads aren't that intrusive. Spotlight or Siri can be used alternatively. I would like to see a floating calculator app (accessible through control center), similar to how Picture-in-Picture works. That's where it would be significant.
While it would be nice for Apple to include a calculator app on the iPad for free, it sounds like you're expecting a third party developer to spend time making an app to fill that void and not get paid for it.
NOT AT ALL ... but no developer has developed a simplistic Calculator App like Apple ... they always throw in some two-bit add on, or some silly colour scheme ... just sell the basic App and knock it off with the list of in-App purchases including the need to buy my way out of ads.

No there aren't, and yes they are - that's just plain old giving in to what's offered and not demanding better.
Well i'm perfectly happy with the free 3rd party app that has a tiny ad at the top left that is not intrusive at all. The size of the iPad is not suited to a full screen calculator and you can see that by the 3rd party apps that quite frankly, look ridiculous. It is not a job for the iPad where buttons are the sizes of iPod nanos, and I don't know why there is so much anger at Apple for not including a calculator app. I am demanding better, and like I said, a floating calculator window would be the best and most useful implementation of this and is the only area where it would make sense for Apple. It really isn't a big deal and a full screen calculator app probably won't happen unless they are desperate for iOS features.
You either pay a couple of dollars for an app then possibly find out you don't like it and waste your money, or you download a free app with ads and either find out you don't like it, delete it, and only waste a couple of minutes of your time, or find out you do like it and pay a couple of dollars to remove ads.
Either way, you're going to pay a couple of dollars, but at least the ads way lets you see if you even like the app and lets those who don't mind ads use it for free.
