I would consider trading in a nano for the new ipod. Here's my reasoning...

I bought that nano because I wanted something that I could put in my pants without looking like I had a boner coming from my pocket. I could have gotten the mini, but a color screen is a must for me. I don't care about the video ipod's video capabilities. In terms of battery life, the video ipod has alot more life. Storagewise, I can live with my nano, but I can encode everything at lossless if I went up to the video ipod. But the most important thing about the video ipod is that it's been slimmed down a whole lot. So although the nano is still wonderfully smaller, the video ipod is now at an acceptable size for me. So the video ipod gives me the extra battery life I'd need over the nano, while the nano's only advantage (for my purposes) is a smaller size that I no longer need.

Note: I haven't gotten the chance to actually hold a video ipod yet, so I don't know the "feel" of it, but I'm assuming that it's small enough for me to comfortably sit snug in my pants pocket being 45% thinner.

I could care less about video though...
