For every person who's "sad" about the nMP there's someone who's happy. My nMP has easily been the best computer I've ever owned.

Some folks need to stop reminiscing about the way things were in the good ol' days and move on already -- the way Apple is headed is pretty clear. If you don't like their current offerings whining about it isn't going to help. There are plenty of other vendors who likely offer what you need and will be more than happy to take your money.

I really don't understand this kind of expressions.
I am sorry but I am also a big fan of Apple but their work lately is not really their A game.
The hardware is or outdated or it is performing worse than the the hardware from yesteryear. Yosemite is in my opinion the worst OS X they have made in years, at least for me a lot more buggy than I EVER seen (I am a Mac user since 2008 so I don't know how it was before that).

I am in the market for a new computer and I wish I could defend the purchase of a Mac Pro but Apple is pushing me away.

So you are basically saying, Apple is going in this direction so you need to bend over, pull your pence down en take it (and buy their watch).
I am not so cheap as you. If they want to do that they have to first take me out on nice dinner and maybe some nice kissing before I bend over.

Yosemite has been fine for me since the first public beta nearly a year ago, but then I'm running it on modern hardware. :p

No computer is the fastest forever, so if you're only satisfied with the fastest hardware of the day, you've got a lot more budget than I do.

Whether a Mac Pro is a good machine for you, depends what you want to do with it (and you didn't say). My 2013 MP is perfect for me and my photography. It's fast, silent and just works. And the best part for me is my pair of 4K displays... They are amazing to work on. I couldn't live without them now.

Oh, and I will be buying their watch too (but that had nothing to do with the Mac Pro). ;)

say what? did we read the same post?

i thought this is what was said-- "If you don't like their current offerings whining about it isn't going to help. There are plenty of other vendors who likely offer what you need and will be more than happy to take your money."

you say you don't like the OS and the hardware is outdated with poor performance.
the conclusion to that should be plain as day but for whatever reason, it seems that you'd rather spend time complaining about stuff you don't like instead of finding hardware and software that you do like. why?

Is that a real question?
In the first place I still find OS X better than all other OS's.
Second, I am really a fan of Apple. But that doesn't mean I like the direction in witch Apple is going.
Complaining is I think the only thing we can do to let Apple see they need to do better. Why must people who feel the same way I do sit idle and watch how the quality goes down? I would like to see Apple grow a lot in selling macs and not in selling watches. How does sitting idle help anyone?

write your own OS then?
osx is better than the rest but osx doesn't meet your standards either? i think you're SOL on that one and will have to take matters into your own hands.

yeah, it's obvious that's what you think.
i personally don't think sitting around complaining on macrumors forum is going to change anything but maybe that's just me.

they are selling more macs these days..

and sitting idle isn't going to help you but that's what you're doing.. you say you need a new computer but it doesn't look like you're trying to fill that need.. or, are you seriously thinking that you posting here about apple's poor quality will result in the engineers seeing your post, redesigning the macpro to your liking, and releasing a newneweziomacpro within the next month so you can get your new computer.?

OK... Do you need some lubricant with that?

First off, you're really anally-obsessed.

Second off, just because a computer doesn't work for you doesn't mean that it doesn't work for everyone.

Third off, just because Yosemite is buggy for you doesn't mean that it's buggy for everyone.

Pissing and moaning here, while probably cathartic, is largely a waste of time in terms of Apple delivering what you want. Based on current Mac sales figures, the likelihood of them changing strategy is pretty unlikely.
