I’ve had a 3G, 4, 4S, 5, 6, X, and 12 Pro Max. I’ve gone caseless for all of them except the 12 Pro Max; its frosted glass back and polished steel sides are just too slippery, and the sharp edges don’t feel good in my hand.

I don’t think I’ll get a case for the 15 Pro Max. The shape and surface look far more grippy, and if the titanium is anywhere near as durable as my Apple Watch Ultra, I have no concerns about how well the phone will hold up for the 3–4 years I’ll own it.

My only fear of running it naked is it slipping off my recliner. That’s where I tend to leave it when I’m home and even with the case it’ll slip.

Had iPhones since 2007, literally never have cracked a screen. But I try and be cognizant of it when traveling about, what pocket it's in etc. My F-I-L recently dropped my iPhone 14 Pro onto a tennis court from the pouch it was in. It got some scrapes on the metal band but otherwise survived. No cases!

I was caseless for 2 yrs w/ my iPhone 4s and never had one problem.

I went caseless again with my 14Pro in Deep Purple (Apple Care, a glass screen proctor, and an Apple Wallet to keep the camera off surfaces when the iPhone is facing up). Only negative after about 12 months is a random, small, shiny, chip on the screen side of the stainless steel band. And I don't know how it it happened.

One tip: Be extra careful with your new iPhone for the 1st week or 2. That's the amount of time it usually takes me to get used to the shape and weight of the device. After that, I am usually less prone to dropping it.

Why do people bother with ugly screen protectors? Screens stopped scratching with normal use years ago.
I feel the same way. My wife has a screen protector and it feels and looks off. My teenage daughter also has a screen protector - her screen still cracked. I have never used a screen protector and never had any scratches or cracks, plus it feels better.

I started going naked with my 12 Pro back in April when I got the OhSnap Pro. It gives me a little extra to hold on to. I'm planning on upgrading to the 15 Pro Max, first time with the larger size, and I'll probably stick with naked plus the OhSnap to help grip the phone.

Barely getting caught up on all the Apple news and I agree with you all... 15 Pro Max nakey for the first time with Apple Care. I tried going caseless with the 13 Pro Max but was too slippery and a fingerprint magnet. Let's see how it goes!

If you are not in daily contact with soil, and other environmental absurdities (as I am): Yes ;)

I’m doing it. Went ahead and added AppleCare. Figured if I screw it up, replace with AC and then case the new one.

Naked has been the way since the first iPhone.

More so now that repairs via AppleCare+ cost less than a decent case.

AppleCare+ would cost me 199 €, minus the case I would normally get = 140 €. Then 29 € for glass/back damage or 99 € for any other damage. Interesting. This would help me relax and just enjoy the phone naked without being constantly paranoid.

I have never done this, what are your experiences? Say I drop it and get a huge dent in the titanium that I just can't live with, can I replace that hassle free?

This year is the first year I am actually considering it!
I will buy a case for outdoor activities and traveling and situations I might not pay attention…
I go with a screen protector though… I don’t mind the different feel.

I was wondering though… if you use MagSafe stuff… do you think it leaves marks in the back of an unprotected phone?
It did with my apple silicon case on first touch basic so I was wondering if I need something for the back?

i never had screen protector since iphone xs.
its pretty pointless on cases with "lip" surrounding the edges.
and iphone glass is scratch resistant enough for my usecase

i have been downgrading my case protection level from the bulkiest otterbox defenders, down to minimal case for the first time in iphone 15 pro.
and perhaps in the future ... for once since owning iphones, i will make use of the applecare accidental screen replacement.

You guys are crazy. Apple releases the softest ever frame material used on an iPhone and *this* is the first time you choose to go naked!

The only way this thing could scratch easier is if it was made from 24k gold :D

4S, 6, 7, 8 plus, XS, 12 mini and 14 PM. Each one spent their first months in cases, than naked. Only minor dent with the aluminium ones and some micro scratches on both aluminium and stainless steel.

Always in a pocket with anything else, always in pocket when doing something that could be at risk. Always aware about the surface where you put it to avoid undesired slipping.

Using iPhone 13 naked, but not sure can do that with 15/15 Pro, because there are now nothing glossy at all and I think it will be hell slippery

I dropped my 14 pro twice from about waist height. First time was in a store during Canadian winter so the floor was covered in salt and sand. Not only did I drop it, I managed to kick it so
It slid about 4 feet across the floor. It was fine.

Dropped it a few months later in a different store, landed on its screen. It was fine.

No screen protector and no case.
Yes, but that’s just good fortune. There are plenty examples of dents, scuffs, paint chipping and worse such as the glass back & screen cracking. I don’t think it’s worth the risk. I have a 2 piece case and my 13 looks as good as new. I have also dropped it on concrete from a good height and my wooden floor at home. Accidents can happen at any time so I would prefer to use a case.

They would have micro scratches at least.

I rarely drop mine, but did this week getting out of my truck onto the garage concrete floor, mous case did its job lol.

That’s true. I don’t think you can drop your naked phone onto the ground without causing at least some superficial damage.

Some people just don’t care or notice, it’s like dust in a house lol.
I looked at a 14 pro for sale was only few weeks old, guy didn’t use a case or gsp, said it was like new no scratches etc.
Put it in the sun was covered in micro scratches and a chip on one of the camera lens edge.
Walked away.

I use a magsafe charger as a charger and holder in the car. My previous iphone, the 13 pro, had a circle mark after a year. From what I could see, this was down to a small build up of dirt on the magsafe puck. It will happen unless you keep the magsafe accessories perfectly clean.
