Naked is NEVER the way with a $1000-range phone, as far as my opinion is concerned. Never.

Depending on AppleCare+ to bail you out upon getting scratches or cracks just causes the cost to go up for everyone over time = abuse due to lack of your responsibility, IMHO.
Apple brought out AppleCare, how is that driving up costs? lol. If you can’t manage to take care of a device caseless, that says how messy and clumsy of a human someone is. When you go caseless, nobody else touches my phone, not even my lady. It’s in 2 spots always, pocket or right next to me. It doesn’t get set down in dumb places ever.

Might be some validity in this. I have sometimes studied both kinds more in detail, the ones with and the ones without, and come to the interesting observation that they act differently with their phones in general. It’s like you can easily tell which ones that have cases and which don’t most of the time. Roughly speaking, the ones with cases seam to just be more casual and “careless” and the ones without are more mindful and appreciative of the way they hold and handle the phone. It’s like they actually are holding a precious thing, often two handed, and clinging on to it as it’s an important object. I’m usually right when guessing just by looking how they behave with their phone. Funny that. I do go caseless but with screen protector most of the time, but will use case when doing more risky activities, since the 3GS until the current 14PM.
I agree with this. You can always tell how a person is depending on their phone. I’d say a good 90-95% of people are messy and clumsy which carries through to the rest of their life. It’s always nice seeing someone else who rocks caseless and takes care of their stuff.

Wait if you have the theft or loss coverage (I just have basic AppleCare+) you have to pay a $149 deductible per claim?
I don’t have theft/loss coverage, but I assume paying the deductible gives you a replacement phone. I also think they require you to have Find My on so they confirm that the device is gone or stolen.

My thing is that my phone is a tool. I use it as an essential part of my life. But that's al it is. So I don't want to have to baby it. That's why I put it in a case.

Unfortunately I checked and the deductible applies for those on AppleCare+ with theft and loss only. If you don’t have AppleCare+ with theft and loss your out of luck.

So I got my 15 pro on Monday. I got a case but decided to use case less for a bit given the great design but used a screen protector. My hands/wrists have actually been hurting recently (I think tennis injury) and every gram makes a difference. I was reluctant to take off the screen protector because I know phone screens have been getting softer (to be more shatter resistant). But I did and it makes a difference. Feels so good on its own and baseless!

15 pro max here. I have a clear otter box case with MagSafe and no screen protector plus AppleCare +. But I been thinking of going caseless some days ha.

Since Apple really isn't a sustainable company for repairs I use a case to prevent more accidents causing more electronic waste

Seems its £109 here

That’s what I don’t get about AppleCare. It’s £239 for 2 years coverage, but carries an excess of £109 for a replacement. My car insurance is cheaper and my entire house and contents are insured for around £350. AppleCare does seem extortionate for what is just a bit of extra convenience.

Do Apple ship a replacement the same day or does it take a few days to sort out?

It's very much convenience factor. Think it's next day delivery or pick up in store

Just done home insurance for £100 for year and my contents are covered but I guess one of those where it could take weeks for a replacement. Excess for mine is £100 total so not too bad

Think IPhone is the only device I would do AppleCare as other items won't be a need to have same day.

We had an iPhone replaced within a few days on our contents insurance a few years ago after my wife slammed it in a car door. We’ve always got a couple of spare iPhones in a drawer should the replacement process take a few days.

I get the convenience factor though of course. It would just pain me to pay that out and not need it. I don’t know the answer, but do Apple give a percentage rebate for a 2 year period of not claiming?

I think for past phones I don’t think it was needed but given the rumours the new iPhones are more prone to crack maybe it’s the best idea. Like with all apple care it’s a waste of money until you need it. Don’t think they give anything back no. Comes to £143 a year if you pay monthly so certainly not cheap but if you like to use without a case often it’s worth taking out I guess.

Actually - i've read the applecare+ part (not loss and theft) is good, and very easy to sort out and the excess is 29£ so it's not bad. however i've read not great things about the theft and loss part because they take a while to deal with the claim and the excess seems high there. and its not dealt with apple but with AIG. And AIG themselves aren't very good.
