umm what? The current music icon was one of my favorites. The pink/red/orange perfectly captured the feeling of music imo. And it stood out. Now we're getting another white icon. I guess I can get use to the new one, but I'll always prefer the current one. What do you think about it? Also if you look closely, you'll see that the new icon shape has been redrawn.

I like the new app icon actually, it's multicolor, so it shows that the app contains different styles of music, different ways of listening to music, etc. I do agree that another white icon isn't the best look, but it does show a pure, new look. Also we have to remember that Newsstand is gone, so that's one white app gone, one white app added. I'm also a fan of what appears to be some slight drop shadows.

I have always disliked the iOS 7/8 music icon. I personally wish they would have kept the "iPod" icon, But I see why they changed it. I think the new music icon takes the focus away from the icon and focuses it on the music note.

I am no icon design expert, but icons with white background look cheap and amateurish. I prefer the old one.
Don't discredit your opinion before you give it.

Personally, I don't mind it, but I didn't mind the old one, either. Hopefully Apple Music ends iTunes on the Mac.

I actually like it. Everyone hated the Music logo when it was first shown. Will just take time to get used to.

Would be interesting to see what it would look like if they'd inverted it - a blur of colours on the outside and the note in white.

Interesting, that's actually what the OS X is like. Maybe I'll give it a shot.

OS X El Capitan's music app looks nicer it has the colors outside and white for the note. iOS has once again another white icon which I hope is changed during the beta.

Once you update and you use it for 6 months-a year, you'll be used to it.

I remember when the current circular iTunes icon/logo was introduced, and there was so much backlash that Steve publicly responded to it.

Ha. Classic Steve.

I think people had a right to complain, though. That was the first of the circle icons, and now Apple has a brigade of them. Having a ton of icons the same shape isn't the best for usability.

I'm on iOS 9 Beta 1 and the music icon is still the same red one on the left.
IOS 8.4 is still in beta yet. So we can expect seeing new icons in the third or fourth beta as long as iOS 8.4 becomes official.
I don't mind which icon they use, but the new one implies that this app is no longer a simple app for music. It has much more, things waiting for explore.

I'm confused by your post. I'm on iOS 9.0 Beta 1 and the music icon is the same. Are you implying they are going to change the icon in 8.4 and then change it again in 9?
