I don't know if I made the right choice but I have 32 days to try it... I bought a Motorola E1 ROKR. The deal was just sooo sweet.

£99.99. With a 512mb Transflash card, with £55 free call credit AND Virgin mobile have free texts until september to another Virgin mobile phone. I've been with them for years and my old phone had the free txts, but it's just nice. VERY happy with the sound. my god! the phone vibrates a little with menu noises. as soon as it's charged and connected to my PB for the iTunes thing, I'm sure I'll be in audio ecstasy.

I think I got a good deal. I'm very happy :)

Almost bought a SLVR for £119. but that only had £20 credit, no iTunes and no free memory card.

But the OS is still as crappy as the V3.

I don't find it crappy :) it's very detailed and I find the T3 text typing thing to be very smooth indeed, just have to remember that * means space now, not 1!

Copying over iTunes music was slooow. but it's not here to replace my iPod. Very, very happy with the ROKR.

Looks like you got a good deal on that....The fact that it has iTunes on it and can connect easily to your Powerbook is a great bonus....

It wasn't anything major, mostly just a nuisance. I too wanted to take advantage of the photo called ID feature, but whenever I'd attach a photo to someone's number, it would lag my phonebook as I tried to scroll thru them too call one. They'd show up fine on the front LCD but the time it took to get to their number was the problem.

This is because it is loading the full high res 640x480 picture. You can fix this by going to the picture first and resizing it down to something like 40x40 before assigning it to a contact.

My girlfriend has the pink V3. She loves it and i'm thinking of getting a matching blue one :) Or maybe a SE K750i

Oh no no no, a guy on my course has a w800i. Or did. he has a different one now, dont know if it's newer or whatever. I didn't like that phone at all. I've only really liked Motorolas and Siemens OS. dunno why. and I can get that £100 from where?

anywho, I was getting ready for a lecture this afternoon and realised my iPod mini's battery was dead. figured it must be the gods or something. what with the iTunes on the ROKR. I copied 65 tracks over last night so I had a few hours worth of music. anywho, it was great! The sound was very clear, I heard bits of songs that the old iPod headphones didn't show up. Lack of genre browsing and EQ was a let down but it was a very adequate MP3 player. Certainly better than any other phone MP3 player I've used. Makes for a fantastic kitchen radio replacement too! stuck it on shuffle tracks whilst making breakfast.

My pleased-o-metre just rises. It's going to get even higher when Virgin mobile start adding their £10 every month :D
