Even though some Apple fans swore it wasn't.

Going to try a fresh install now to see if its any less laggy on my iPhone 6.

Getting the iPad 1 form iOS 4.3 to iOS 5 vibe. Not as unusable but pretty damn annoying.

Useable? Yes

Does it feel like a blazing fast and modern OS on an iPhone that was just released a year ago? Nope.

Seems like iOS 9 was made for the newest iPhones/iPads which is disappointing because in the past, it took about 2 cycles before devices would seen noticeable slowness.

It may still be indexing.

It is your install, or it is still indexing. I have the iPhone 6 and it is as smooth as anything. Best option is to backup to iTunes, then do a clean install and finally restore the backup.

Phone is settled down but then the weird animation stutters randomly creep in, apps launch slower.

I honestly cannot stomach this sort of regression in a one year old phone. I'm scrambling to get back to iOS 8 and hope my back up is going to work.

iOS 8 was a mess on launch too and I think this about my last rodeo with an iPhone. Way too expensive for this sort of nonsense.

Just curious if people have reduce motion option on/off?

Its off by default.

Wondering if there's any other features I need to turn off to make it faster.

Absolutely awful here on my 5s.

Lag everywhere. Control Center, scrolling through pages, opening apps, etc.

Battery life seems fine as of now.

I have:

• Rebooted twice
• Let it "index" for quite some time
• Disabled anything that could be causing lag GPU-wise (translucency, etc.)
• Tried a "fresh install"

Result: lag

So disappointed.

Honestly there should be some kind of study done on perceptions with this stuff and people's frame of mind going into it. On all my devices there is some minor lag, but it isn't world-ending and it's definitely not as bad as other mobile OSs. I just think people take this opportunity to moan, and if you really think this is bad enough to stop you using iPhones in the future then goodbye, see you on the Android or Windows Phone forums to do the same moaning.

My iPhone crashed completely whenever I first installed iOS 9 and swiped right to Siri but after that it seems to be fine - a little lag here and there but nothing major. I'm also assuming it is still indexing.

Must still be indexing an hour later...(played around with it for 30 mins, then made this post).

So its still has some noticeable lag on my iPhone 6.

One good thing is that for whatever reason, Handoff works without any glitches. After one year, Apple finally made Handoff/Continuity actually useable without having to go through all the trouble of turning off/on bluetooth/resetting devices, etc.

That works nice.
