Mostly disappointed that there is no small phone option anymore. I despise these larger phone sizes.

Excited? Indifferent? Disappointed? Solid improvements or lackluster improvements? Going to upgrade or no?

Was all in for the enlarged X until I saw an X next the the new larger X and decided it was too big. I have enjoyed my X, has a perfect size screen for me so for the first time I will not order a new iPhone! I feel relieved not worrying about the preorder and waiting crap. Will be ordering a new Black Stainless AW4 and iPad Pro when available.

I'm sticking with my X. I'm debating about upgrading from AW Series 3 to Series 4. I'm intrigued by the ECG/EKG monitoring but may be not enough to pay a higher premium.

Seems solid as usual and their policy of jacking up the prices is really up there. They're really pushing it. I'm skipping this year.

Nothing to entice me away from my X towards a XS. Very minor improvements and IMO they mainly all sound like marketing hype for essentially the same product.

Don't think there is enough of a reason to upgrade from my X. The Max is intriguing but I think I'll wait and see how it is received. I do want to get a SS gold AW4 though. Does anyone know the best way to sell/trade in my AW3 other than CL?

I understand Apple needs to market their products to get customers to buy the latest gadget. However, will the average person be able to discern the the XS is faster thru everyday tasks; only if a person does a lot of gaming and run graphic intensive apps. For the average customer, he/she won't be able to tell the difference.

Firstly, I cant say I was disappointed by the pricing; iPhone X was the best selling iPhone, so there is no way Apple was going to reduce their prices. I just feel slightly betrayed (maybe not the best word) that there is strong demand for iPhone X despite seeing so many people complaining about the high price.

I do have mixed feelings about iPhone XR though. With all the face id sensors, I can understand the slight price bump over iPhone 8, but i really wished that the screen is slightly smaller (maybe 5.8" and then make it cheaper) and sharper. Don't give it a cool name like liquid retina, when the ppi and contrast ratio is the same as before.

Given the Oct release date, I will definitely look at Pixel 3 and Mate 20 Pro before making my decision.

Definitely disappointed in the prices, but I would really like an upgraded camera from my 6S+ and I don’t want to switch to Android. Looks like the XR will have the best combination of price, camera, and battery life, so that’s probably what I’ll go with. The screen and loss of 3D touch don’t really bother me.

$1100 for a Max, yeahhhhh right.

Unimpressed. I’m keeping my X for another year. This year’s keynote didn’t wow me like last year. The only thing I want is to upgrade my Series 2 Watch to the series 4. I’ve paid off almost 75% of my X so in my situation it’s better for me to keep it and upgrade next year.

I'm not disappointed or surprised at all really. I feel like the only people who are disappointed had some unrealistic expectations or have a very recent phone. Neither of those groups seem like the target audience here. I'm still rockin an iPhone 7 so dual cameras and full screen displays are definitely going to be a noticeable upgrade for me.

I see it this way. Apple introduced the successor for the iPhone X as the iPhone Xs, it has a new soc, better camera, same size and price (so cases are cheap or reusable here) and that's it. It doesn't feel targeted at people who already have the iPhone X at all but more for people who still have the "old" style home button devices.

The iPhone Xs Max is an answer to those who asked for a bigger X. Like "I like the new form factor but I wish it was even bigger." It has the $100 price bump that was pretty standard between the normal and plus size versions in the past (I think the 8 broke that pattern).

There was also a set of people who likely balked at the price tag last year. For them we have a true iPhone 7/8 successor in the Xr. It has the new full screen style with face id but lacks a second camera and 3d touch for whatever reason. Lower resolution screen here too but still considered retina (fyi a 50 inch 4k tv is only 88ppi and while you dont sit super close its an interesting measurement). With the lower screen resolution even though it has a bigger screen and all other specs seem identical somehow the Xr gets the best battery life of any iphone ever, beating out the 8 plus from last year by a decent margin (according to Apple of course) which could be a pretty big selling point in itself beyond the lower than the X price here.

iPhone 8+ user who passed on the X due to size.
Love my 8+ but was planning to buy the X+ as soon as I could. I was 100% going to buy the phone.. December at the latest.

I can afford it.. but I am now at about 25% on getting the XSM (256). Everyone can spend their $ how they like but I am just not sure, for me, a $1,300+ phone/hand computer makes sense. My ‘tolerance’ was about $1,100. I know it’s ONLY $150 more but that was/is my ceiling.

Do I think it’s a great phone/hand computer? Yes. Do I like my wife’s X? Kind of and thought a ‘Plus’ version would be awesome.

It just blows me away.. as someone who has owned almost every version of iPhone made, who upgrades almost every year and has the discretionary income.. how does this price seem rational to so many. I am not saying I am right. Just saying it seems well out of the realm of reasonable for many.. of which many will still buy it.

I guess it’s also Trump’s fault.. with the economy and all. :)

This is interesting. I need to see them in person. My wife still LOVES her X... and says the size is perfect.

I suspect there is little Apple could have done to move sentiment hugely positive.

Don’t change enough and users label it incremental. Change a lot and users lament losing the familiar.

Mostly, it seems so many want some unknown change for for its own sake with no consideration for what that should look like or whether it’s even possible.

Phones are so good now I’m just thankful. I think the days of annual game changers are behind us. They will be a rarity

Probably going for the fully loaded Max, but I actually wish it was slightly more narrow. I feel like the Note 9 feels thinner (just about right) due to the curved screen and it is 6.4 va 6.5.

Well I wish there were more new features but my upgrade is due in December so I’m going to get the Max.

I like the direction. Funny thing is that Tim Cook literally told the truth; he wanted the new generation in our hands early when they released the X. The new phones fit that description. I went from a 6plus to an X, so I definitely will be holding my X. Next year or the year after I will probably grab a Max if they still sell it.
