Not a joke topic, I am very curious. If businesses/professionals are going to use it, when would happen if someone mistakes it for a trash can and decides to throw trash (Or even worse, something like a empty/almost empty drink) at it?

Seems obvious to me that it would get filled with trash and if a liquid gets dumped into it, then it will probably stop working.

Doesn't this pose a specific issue? People almost throw trash away be instinct. You see a trashcan, you have what you consider to be trash, and you throw it out.

Couldn't this sort of reaction pose an issue?

The new Mac Pro is more than small enough to be on a desk. Why would people think that you had a trash can on your desk?

If this is the OP being "serious", how bad will his joke threads be?

I don't know if the OP is serious or not, but I can give you one of the reasons (of several) that people might think you had a trash can on your desk. That being the simplehuman Countertop Trash Can, .4 gal.

I can't believe this is a serious question, but I'll humour you. Trashcans at my workplace don't have a kettle lead PSU plugged into them, and aren't hooked up to monitors via Thunderbolt connectors.

Of course, what you mentioned may be a problem in Japan, where they have talking trashcans and autonomous washing machines with cognitive thought.

It's not even close to the same size as a Mac Pro so it wouldn't be sitting in the floor. If someone puts it on the floor they need shot.

You catch the bugger and kick him until he is unconscious.

Obviously, I'm not a violent person and wouldn't do that. I would pin him to the ground and let someone else do the kicking.

Anyway, it would happen only once :D

How many trash cans are located on top of people's desk? It might be more useful as an IQ test as opposed to a trash problem.

Because objects with fans on top blowing out hot air are likely trash cans?
Likewise for objects with cables coming out of the back .... likely trash cans ?
Once get past the superficially looking directly at the sides and not the top, leads to this "deduction" it might be a normal trash can. Even a marginally side+top view quickly shows that the 'inside bottom' is close to the top

From this view someone is going to mistake this for a trash can??? Vents. Inside almost as high as the top...... oh that is trash can? Who is making this deduction? Midgets who can't see the desktop surface either?

In an office, looking towards the floor will more likely surface a trash can.

and decides to throw trash (Or even worse, something like a empty/almost empty drink) at it?

Right up there with what if someone mistakes the current Mac Pro for a cheese grader and goes after it with a wedge of Muenster.

I must beg to disagree...

Fat Chance....

Fat Chance. It's 6" x 9"... More like a Barbie trash can.

Finally, Apple redesigns the "bit bucket"! (For you younger folks, look it up!) :D

the trash they try to throw in will blow out?

(unless they're maybe trying to throw away a glass bottle which may be too heavy to blow out.. so in that case, the bottle would stop once it goes in an inch at which point they'll probably realize it's not a trash can.. then they'll see there's a void in the trash can market because no one sells trash cans which are designed to dispose of a single bottle.. this person will then go to the patent office and begin manufacturing tiny trash cans designed to hold only one bottle.. and they'll be a millionaire after that)

I don't believe trash cans have lights...
Not the regular ones, at least.

i once used my macpro as a step ladder.. not joking :)
i more than once used it as a coffee table too.

i really wouldn't mind using the new mac as a trash can or ashtray but i don't think it's going to work out so well

Maybe not trash, but it sure looks a lot like a, "Smokeless Ashtray." If there are smokers around a warning might be appropriate. Stranger things have happened.

I think the more concerning issue is if someone confuses this for a paperweight, or a foot-warmer, or an intergalactic space-time machine? People can get very confused.

But maybe martian invaders will be thrown off by it. Just imagine - aliens descend to conquer Earth, see alien destroyer machine (really it's just the new MacPro), get scared away and go back home. Amazing, right?

trying to ash a cigarette in the computer would be akin to peeing into the wind.. of course someone may try to do it without thinking.. but they're gonna learn real quick like that they've done something idiotic.
i doubt a warning is appropriate. (in fact- a warning would ruin the possibilities for a good laugh)

its the global view.. apple is global ..

Two things I want to add here:

- Never underestimate the stupidity of the general population..
- Never underestimate elderly people..

.. and this simple question:

How many PowerMac G4 Quicksilver mono speakers have been destroyed because they have been mistakenly used as the "ON Button" ??

A humble, somewhat funny recommendation:

Try to put on a global perspective and watch 5 hours of the epic fail series on youtube. That will cure you for sure!!!!!

Start with the russian version .. :))))
