Because this is a dynamic forum and over the course of those 6 pages the discussion diverged on to other related topics. The OP was also given links to other threads which had relevant info too, this is what happens in a discussion, topics ebb and flow...

Why the hell can't people stick to what the OP asked for.
A cheap, metal compatible cars THAT HAS A BOOTSCREEN.

Seriously, why post cards that DON'T MEET THAT REQUIREMENT.

6 pages of crap about cards like the GT 710.

Yet, every single one of those off topic posts is more relevant than your childish rant.

Other World Computing has the Radeon RX 580 for sale, which is plug and play.

Which part off off topic is not clear to you?

This isn't a personal area for you to vent your teen angst (or whatever). Add something useful (even if it's not 100% on topic), or go to facebook and talk about your political beliefs. Please.

Here is flashed car on eBay, and by the way, NEITHER of these shows the Apple Logo at boot. I just keep the original graphics card on top of mac pro, and if I need to see the boot screen I swap it in.

There are plenty of new, flashed 580s for sale on ebay. but they are not cheap.

there are also flashed gtx680 nvidia cards that are metal, and cheap. they work too for basic use. no drivers required

OK , I'll add my 2 cents worth here .

Add two RX 480 8GB Reference Blower Type Graphics Cards to the cMP 5,1 . They take up a total of 4 PCIe slot inches . The Mac has five slot inches , so you'll have one thin card left to install here ...

Yes , this Mac will do it . Each card has only one standard 6 pin PCIe booster power cable requirement and this Mac's logic board will be happy to provide the connections . Just get a couple power cables .

And Mojave will run . You can even install it with these . These cards perform around just 12 percent slower each than the official RX 580 . But there are two of them installed , so performance is actually much higher .

What you won't get is that pretty Apple logo at start up , boot picker , single user command line and any other esoteric EFI function you simply must have .

What you will get is recovery mode and the cheapest dual GPU acceleration that programs like Resolve and FCPX crave .

You'll also get tons of DP ports . You won't get that with either official brand new Mojave card .

Make certain that fan hole is unobstructed as best you can - it sucks in .

Total cost = $200 for the pair .

They look like this :

You should rebuild them as used cards off of eBay really need it , due to crypto mining and such .

Good Hunting .

If anyone wants a good EFI bootable card for Mojave; get a Sapphire Dual X HD 7970 3GB this is still a respectable card I currently use an MSI Armor RX 580 but I keep the above card as a very reliable EFI bootable spare.

I will donate the working slightly under-volted EFI ROM with flashing instructions for this card.

The RX 550 is overpriced and it is a waste of 4GiB VRAM.

4GiB VRAM on the RX 460/560D/560 is OK.

Maybe the best value is the RX 470/570.

But used I think the RX 480/580 is a better deal.

Yes, this sounds like a great option to upgrade from my Radeon 5780 for better performance and Metal compatibility!

Would be grateful of your offer of EFI ROM and flashing instructions as new to this procedure.

Regards,

TT
