Every since Samsung released the Galaxy Gear, the Apple loyalist have come out in full force to say they were copying Apple. I really don't get this nuttiness. But now with the recent announcement of the Gear's sales numbers (800,000 worldwide), they've come out once again to spew their hate. How do so many people on this forum ignore 2 very important facts.

1) Apple does not have a smartwatch. Nothing but rumors. Aka, vaporware. Sorry no credit for you.
2) Samsung is not the first to release the current smartwatch as we know it. (Sony, Pebble)

So if we started going by rumors and patent filings instead of actual released products, then I guess companies can start filling away to get credit for just about anything.
So anyone care to explain how they give credit to vaporware?

Because obviously Apple does everything innovative, even if the facts have to be adjusted to say so.

How do you know Apple didn't build a prototype years ago? Just because it never made production doesn't mean its "vaporware". Plenty of devices are invented and built but never mass produced and put on sale. This is from 3 years ago...

Why do you care enough to post this thread? Aren't you just as culpable as the nut jobs who bash Samsung?

As if someone giving "credit" over the internet means something.....

Are you for real? Honestly I really don't know what else to say.

Well its a discussion forum. So I am engaging in a discussion. I gave my points and would like to hear the reasoning behind their talking points. Maybe they're not as nutty as I think they are. Gotta give them a chance to speak their side. Sound reasonable to you? I mean this is how it works right?

Why is the above posters link laughable?

Were people talking about foldable/flexible displays three years ago? Are they now? Seems like that "prototype" was ahead of its time.

As for the validity of this thread, I suppose your desire to create it is enough. But it just seems to cry of ******** fanboyism. So some jack-holes bashed Samsung on here....too many threads are created/derailed by people who respond to that nonsense.

Take the high road. Ignore it.

Did you need to post this? I don't see anything in this post that benefits this board, assists board members in some way or gives some new information. This seems more like you intended to start a flame war with this thread and nothing else. Pretty sure this qualifies as a 'lock down' thread?

It can't be vaporware, Apple has not said or presented anything

The OP seemed to imply that that link was a real prototype from Apple. It just a render from someone with imagination, nothing more.

How do you know it wasn't built? Not like you would ever see it anyways. I can assure you they already have one of these laying around, or something very similar. Just as they have had multiple sized iPhones and iPads built and tested for years before they are released.

LOL.. these aren't even prototypes. They're gadgets made up by the website staff.

So we gazed into our crystal ball to glimpse these four ripped-from-the-future prototypes of devices that Apple could make in the years ahead. Join us this week as we post a new prototype every day thought up by the Mac|Life staff

You can't assure anyone because unless you work for Apple then you don't know anything for sure you're speculating which is just what you're telling her she is doing..

She doesn't even think Apple has a smart watch prototype...Anyone who knows anything about the tech industry would agree Apple probably has at least 3 different types of smart watches sitting around for testing

I believe these forums can be used to better inform consumers. Most of us are tech heads that enjoy bleeding edge tech. Not everyone that visits these forums actually register and post. So it's great to get the discussion started with current events. Currently that's smartwatches.

Because that isn't a prototype. That was the wishings of a writer. Just look at how much RAM that thing is going to have.

I also don't know that Apple hasn't genetically modified a horse to give it wings and a horn, but I'll keep saying they haven't.

They don't know anything they are speculating based on rumours and juicy rumours get page views... And there you go speculating again.

And we know that they started testing long before Samsung started making their device? See, we can do this speculation game all day.

Your reasoning is extremely flawed though. By your logic, since no one has seen the iPhone 6 and its all just rumors, that must be vaporware and no prototype of it exists right? This very own website has had articles saying Apple is testing at least 3 different iPhone screen sizes, but you don't think they have smart watch prototypes for testing? LOL

This very website has articles saying that ANALYSTS say that about the 3 different sizes. That means nothing. Analysts have been predicting the Apple TV (not the set box) for years now. Analysts are often wrong.

Did Samsung sell or ship 800k watches? Will we ever know? Smartwatches have very little appeal right now

It has been reported so. See front page.
I agree they have little appeal right now, but only for myself. I won't discount the demand because of my own needs. Look how the Galaxy Note ended up.

I think shipped, but those count as sales to every company. Even Apple is going to count shipped as sold if they make an iWatch.
