I use Siri every day, no longer typing texts or mails. Adding reminders is a breeze. One of the best things. Frees up the keyboard.

Here in New York when it gets really cold or rains, to use an iPhone you have to take it out of your pocket, take of your gloves, text call whatever, and then put your glove back on and put it back. Not that fun in 15 degree weather. Yesterday in the rain I was having 4 simultaneous text conversations without ever having to pull the iphone from my pocket.

THIS..! It's already getting chilly over here when I'm on my way to work at 6 in a morning.

Likewise, when I leave work and head to the train station, I'll either text or call friends/family but now I just use Siri. Text messaging via Siri is still taking some getting used to as I tend to be a bit too wordy in my texts but I'm getting there.

Ten Points, for the great humor. This made me laugh so hard... Wow!

That's pretty significant since I have a great sense of humor and already laugh a lot every single day.

But this... was just brilliant :) :) :)

Siri says you're mocking me.

I find that I use Siri more and more, actually. If I could just get my new MAC added to the WiFi network at work, I would be one happy camper. Damned slow part-time tech guy...

This always happens with new Apple hardware and software. The initial release is typically little more than a shadow of what the product will evolve into. Siri may seem like a novelty right now, but give it two years and I guarantee most people won't be able to remember how they did without it.

"Oh, please. It doesn't get cold in New York."

I use the current voice command system every day. Pretty sure I would add to that if I had a 4s.

I would use it if it actually worked and could connect to the server each time. I say "call wife" and then it freezes for a minute, then it says it's having trouble connecting to the server. Does it really need a remote server just to call my wife?

If it didn't understand you initially then yes, it might be using the web portion to do the search. It might be the reference to "wife" vs call "persons name" that is the game changer. Just a guess.

Actually, Siri always uses a remote server for speech recognition. That is why without a network connection you cannot use Siri at all.

A minor annoyance for me is that the phone cannot automatically revert to the native voice recognition when there's no network connection. There's no reason I shouldn't be able to have my iPhone play an album just because I'm in a dead zone.

Just like Facetime.

Oh, wait...

Facetime could have been a success if Apple hadn't lied about it being a cross platform open standard when it was nothing of the kind.

Siri gets well over 25% of what I've told it to do wrong. It's worse than useless.

Siri appeals to those who need to be validated. Or are easily amused.
Like NFC,a 12GHZ Processor, and 16BG of RAM
It's an ego booster for those who need to feel special.
Like needing a 27" screen on your phone
If everyone who had a cell phone, had Siri, the honeymoon would be over.
Guess the honeymoon will be over once Android has it
Here in the walled garden, Siri will be fawned over for a very long time.
Fandroids aren't welcome in the walled garden.

I commute every day by walking and bus in Chicago. I always have earphones in because I'm big on podcasts. I use Siri several times a day just by clicking and holding the mic on the earphones. If I click it quickly I can toggle my podcast on and off but if I hold it down, I get Siri. Very useful in Chicago where it's a major hassle to take off your gloves in the middle of winter to check messages. It really passes the time when I have an entire work day of messages to catch up on and can reply when I am waiting.

I can't wait for someone to make use of the API so I can start asking it when the next bus arrives at any given stop.

Proves nothing. Siri isn't even out of beta and FaceTime is still being developed too.

I don't use it that often, but it's useful when I do. When I need an alarm, I just say "Wake me at 7" instead of scrolling to find the app, opening it, selecting the tab and turning on the alarm. It's also useful for dictating long text messages rather than keying them on the iPhone.

"Beta" does not mean there is going to be a quantum leap in voice recognition technology between it and release candidate.

Facetime has seen absolutely zero development in a year.

I use it for quick tasks like setting alarms or timers....and then if i need to do a quick google search when i want my eyes on something else...it gets used every other day or so

Other than that, not much...

I set reminders, timers and wakeup alarms pretty much every day via Siri, use it to play music, make calls and more while in the car. It still has a long way to go to become accurate, but it is geting there slowly.

There really isn't much else that can be done with FaceTime...it is what it is.

3G, Windows client, opening up the standard as promised, better handling of addresses and availability, utilising screensharing, gesture controls...

There's lots that could be done with FaceTime. None of it has.
