In my experience the 580 is a very underrated card for it's age.Yep 15.1 here. So far so good, but I still have the 580.
I hate to say it, but I think that's the plan.I put another suggestion in to Apple to get Radeon 7000 series GPU support in Sequoia and Sonoma, justifying since MPX modules aren't available and can't be replaced, if they die our computers are useless.
Useless? You don't need to use an MPX video card. I am running a standard PCIe video card instead of an MPX - I have two Promise Pegasus R4i RAID arrays taking up both MPX slots.I put another suggestion in to Apple to get Radeon 7000 series GPU support in Sequoia and Sonoma, justifying since MPX modules aren't available and can't be replaced, if they die our computers are useless.
The only other options are old 6000 series cards (or similar vintage) from AMD which are also legacy technology.Useless? You don't need to use an MPX video card
I said nothing against support for newer cards, just the computers are not "useless" if your MPX video card fails... you can always run Wind(bl)ows too - if you have to.The only other options are old 6000 series cards (or similar vintage) from AMD which are also legacy technology.
That's fine, it's obvious nobody wants support for newer cards from AMD. Every time it is suggested a chorus comes along against it.
Almost everyone's advice is, get an Apple M-machine, because they are so much faster etc....
