I put another suggestion in to Apple to get Radeon 7000 series GPU support in Sequoia and Sonoma, justifying since MPX modules aren't available and can't be replaced, if they die our computers are useless.

I hate to say it, but I think that's the plan.

Useless? You don't need to use an MPX video card. I am running a standard PCIe video card instead of an MPX - I have two Promise Pegasus R4i RAID arrays taking up both MPX slots.

The only other options are old 6000 series cards (or similar vintage) from AMD which are also legacy technology.

That's fine, it's obvious nobody wants support for newer cards from AMD. Every time it is suggested a chorus comes along against it.

I said nothing against support for newer cards, just the computers are not "useless" if your MPX video card fails... you can always run Wind(bl)ows too - if you have to.

Almost everyone's advice is, get an Apple M-machine, because they are so much faster etc.
Although the AS Mac Pro doesn't get much love either, because it has PCI-E slots.

Still people spend money to have their Mac Studios upgraded with larger SSD kits (3rd party), because they can get it for a lower price. (See the kickstarter campaign.) I guess they would go all in if they could upgrade the memory as well. As long as they don't have to pay Apple for the privilege.

Personally, I will keep my intel macs as long as possible. Not least because I am concerned about the biometrics combined with Apple's focus on AI. And I don't find Microsoft any better. So I am not switching to Microsoft Windows.

But this is off topic in this thread, so I apologise
