I really dont "need" one of these. gah but I want one. I am also considering a Alienware M11x. the 11.6 inch gaming laptop dell made. so my appetite for the ipad has been curved for the moment. Ipad isnt going anywhere any time soon, so I may wait until I try one in the stores.

Im a sucker for gadgets. so chances are I will get the 32 gig wifi.

It depends on what kind of 'Pre-order' it is. If it is like the 3GS pre-order, then probably since there is no down payment. Still deciding on the size but I know i'm going to pass on 3G while I still have my iPhone data plan for the next 1.5 years. And when that expires there will probably be an iPad 4G.

Although when I pre-ordered my 3GS I had to wait in line longer than the people who didn't pre-order for some reason....(They made us form 2 lines and were taking people from both lines, the people without pre-orders had a much shorter line.)

What's the bottom line here?

So how does the pre-ordering thing work anyway?

We suddenly find out that the pre-ordering option is available at Apple.com (probably via Twitter, ha-ha!), so then we jump on the website with our credit cards and order.

But what's the "delivery date"? Is it before or after the iPad hits the stores? And what if they delay it?

Whenever I have pre-ordered an Apple product (going back to 2003) I have always received it the day it is released in stores. Apple also has always upgraded my shipping from standard to either two-day or overnight to ensure delivery.

I've always received street date delivery from Apple when pre-ordering. Never an issue there. I don't live near an Apple store (2 hours away) so ordering online is my best option. I think I'm going to stick with the Wi-Fi. If I need data I can use my iPhone for that.

iPad . . . Survey Says

I was going to wait until I saw this:

32 or 64gb Wifi only model here. I will never not have a smartphone in my pocket that I can tether to the iPad for 3g and there is no way I can justify paying for mobile data twice.

I'd get the 3g just to have the option, but I'm not waiting the extra 30+ days for those to be released.

So pre-order the 64gb is the way to go.

Ι am thinking of going with the 16gb one, as I consider (paradoxically, but wait for the argument...) 32gb or 64 gb to be quite limited, and I am 100% sure that as soon as the iphone gets 64gb this summer (and the touch 128gb) the ipad will too.

And the 16gb one will be still very functional with idisk, a nas server at home to draw upon anything one wants, and of course as book reader/web browser for a family member, or ebay. Why spent double (almost) to get a device that in a few months will have the same top price double the storage. And realistically a video/app/music/books device can will come to its own only beginning at the 128gb storage scenario.

I'm going to pre-order a 64GB Wifi from Best Buy & picking it up on release day. So glad to hear BB will be carrying it and I don't have to drive 1.5hrs to the nearest Apple Store in Richmond, VA anymore.

I plan to get one but will not pre-order. I want to read what people say about how it works and I want the 3G version. I have no problem waiting a bit. I just hope they don't all sell out!

i am pre-ordering. remember if there is domething wrong with the product like screen color etc.. you can always go to apple and they will replace it. i love the fact that they have a very good service.

32GB for me with no 3G

Pre-order

16GB + WiFi

I will be using it on my Verizon MiFi

If it works out as a new accessory, it may replace my Macbook for travel purposes. My wife and I just sold our Kindle 2 on craigslist last week. I see no reason to invest in any e-ink reader at this point in time. I will probably be selling the iPod Touch too, as I primarily use it to listen to podcasts and run social networking apps (and TWiT!)

Its purely a personal preference, but for me, I see the need to have connectivity regardless of there's wifi hotspots around.

I agree - 3G all the way. That way I can use it as a map when out and around and don't need to worry about WiFi.

And I won't be pre-ordering. I'll wait a bit, but most likely go for the 64GB 3G model.

I can't help but wonder when you find yourself needing a map. Do you own an iPhone?

I assume you're referring to Tim Cook's remarks. He never said that BB would carry them at launch, just that they would pursue selling them there eventually. I would be shocked if you can get them anywhere but through Apple at first.

As much as i'd like to order a 64gb 3g, i need to get one for myself and one for my wife. So i'll be ordering 2 16gb 3g models instead.

That does not help if its coming from China:cool:
Paying money for nothing at all.

I am going and buying online when the MBA were release, the stores did not have the lower end one, mine arrived on launch day!
