Yes, WWDC is now primarily an iOS/iPad focused event for developers, taking the place of macOS as it was in years past. iOS for iPad should see a lot more focus over the next few years.

Thanks guys! Really disappointing.

Why is it disappointing? Apple themselves said that it was going to be an education event. IPads are going to be announced at WWDC like everyone said. If you want an iPad Mini, better grab a 4 now because I can almost guarantee the mini will be discontinued.
Because I want an updated mini iPad and not a giant iPad. Now that the mini will be discontinued, I have no reason to buy an iPad again. So yes it's very disappointing.
I was in the Warby Parker store today getting my glasses adjusted, and I noticed all the employees were carrying minis. I wonder if retail is a big market for that size.Yes, the new iPad Mini. I’m not saying that Apple is killing the 9.7” like they did to the iPad Mini. I’m just saying the 9.7” is now the base model, like the iPad Mini once was. Soon, the iPad Mini will be off the Apple website, and it’ll just be the iPad Pros and the regular iPad.
That gives me some hope for it’s future, but it makes me wonder if it’s so popular in certain circles, why would they wait so long to refresh it? It’s nice to know it’s being used in professional settings, and not just for casual users. Wonder what it’ll take for Apple to realize it deserves to continue beyond the Mini 4.I was in the Warby Parker store today getting my glasses adjusted, and I noticed all the employees were carrying minis.
