So, your macbook and ipad are next to each other and you want to browse the net....

If I'm just going to do some general reading (blog, FB, etc), then I prefer the iPad since it's easy to hold, flows better and allows me to walk around the house while doing stuff on it.

Time won't change that unless someone gets upgraded or developed.
 
My MBP and iPad will not be next to one another ever as I'm retiring the MBP on Day 1.
