is there anyone who has jailbroken iPhone 3g Provided by Softbank in Japan?
Any success in this regard??

works fine. just did it again today to update to 2.0.2. haven't run into any problems.

i don't think it matters where you get the phone since they all run the same software.

Hey thanks for the reply, nice to hear somebody in Japan jailbroken iPhone 3g. :)

Can you plz guide me about what steps you followed and what software you used to jailbreak your iPhone?

I believe you will not be getting any Signal Problems after Jailbreaking right?

I am on softbank with a jailbroken phone too. It works no problem at all, and I have never had a problem with signal after jailbreaking (no more than is normal anyway).

As for steps, there are too many guides on how to do this. I suggest following the instructions on these forums as there is no difference between the softbank iphone and any other iphone in the world. Try this thread: https://forums.macrumors.com/threads/550964/

Personally I most recently jailbroke from a standard 2.0.2 installation using quickpwn in Windows. It worked perfectly and without any issues whatsoever.

Enjoy!

hey thanks for the reply.
So you used QuickPWN Tool, hmm right.

I read somewhere that QuickPWN also activates the Phone, however we the Softbank users have the iPhone that is already Activated, so was thinking about using WINPWN where you have the option to activate the Phone or jailbreak it without Activation.

I am on Firmware 2.0.1 on my iPhone, what would you recommend should i update to 2.0.2 and then Jailbreak or Jailbreak the same 2.0.1 firmware?

In addition, these sites are what you are looking for if you want accurate jailbreak information:

http://blog.iphone-dev.org/
http://sleepers.net/news/
http://www.hackint0sh.org/forum/forumdisplay.php?f=123

For specific installation instructions on the 3G, go to UTube, and search for "credible" step-by-step instructions.

Note: If you have already upgraded to FW 2.0.1, you may not be able to "unlock" in the future, but you can still jailbreak. If you follow the instructions perfectly, and do your homework, you will not have any problems. I have been living free now (jailbroken) since July 31 and loving it!

Just wanted to pipe in here: I'm using a SoftBank iPhone 3G, jailbroken, with no problems at all. I still get those stupid 'You have a new mail' notifications, too. hehe

I used Pwnage Tool for the Mac, in expert mode - I unchecked activation, and unchecked the stupid pineapple logo. Worked like a charm on both 2.0.1 and 2.0.2 ... ;)

ya rightly said, nice one.
I like the Dock at the bottom

Thanks, I'll post it later. It's just a PSD job with a layer masked Gaussian Blur effect for a depth of field effect. :D

Anyway, to answer your questions: the icons are DEEP, the wallpaper and dock are mine. I'll post my stuff later, as well as links to DEEP, once I get home. ;)

@mavis
ya i ll wait for it.

One more question plz.

is it possible to transfer these theme files from PC to your iPhone instead of downloading them through the Cydia??

I'm using MobileMe now and have it forward to my SoftBank address so I can get my custom email tone and longer vibration AND the visual popup from SoftBank instantly (MobileMe PUSH). I believe you might be doing the same if I recall correctly from the big "iPhone in Japan" thread.

If you really want to turn off the "You got a mail" popup, you can do it from the "My SoftBank" shortcut in iPhone's Safari. Just log in and you'll see a preference for visual noticiation on/off or something like that.

I love the DoCoMo logo in the top right!

I take it you are not a fan of softbank either..

Meh. I think they're all lame. I just used Make it Mine to change my carrier text to docomo for the heck of it, to see if anyone would notice. You're only the second person so far. ;)

Thanks for the tip!

I wasn't aware that we could turn it off, that's good to know. For the time being though, I actually like it. Instead of having to use battery-draining push or even fetch mail, I just forward all my MobileMe mail to the SoftBank account. I never actually check that account, I just use it for the notifications. :)

Sure is. Actually, I never download themes through Cydia as I prefer to go through and customize them first. ;)

ps. I apologize for spamming this thread - if only the iPhone had copy/paste! heh

Remember in that other thread of yours about 'best Cydia apps' how OpenSSH was the first app I mentioned? This is part of the reason why.

You can use OpenSSH to access the iPhone's files, and to transfer files like themes and stuff as well. I'm not sure what client you would use with Windows, but I'm sure a quick forum search would reveal the answer.
