Okay before I get started just want everyone to know that I am not talking crap about iPhones. So I dont want this to become and bashing thread...

I have owned all generation iPhones and my last one was a 16GB 3GS. All the iPhones I'ved had serve me very well and I still enjoyed it up to this date. My wife still has her 3GS and my 2 kids have iPod Touches.

Over the last couple of months, I just got bored with my iPhone and wanted something new. So finally I decided to sell my 3GS and buy me a Nexus phone. At first I was hesitant. I have read so many reviews about the Nexus one most of them are good some are bashful but I thought I'd give myself a chance to try it...

As soon as I got it out of the box, OMG I was like a young kid again. I turned it on and played with all the settings. It took me a couple of hours getting used to the interface but everything is a breeze from then on. One thing I have noticed is that the screen is amazing. Navigating through applications was an ease with no lags. The best part of it all is that when Im in a middle of downloading an app, I get a notification mail that I have an email, I open it, check it and delete while at the same time my downloading is still running in the background. I have a Tmobile account so not sure what the speed is for att's 3GS. Anyway, I have $9.99 web2go data plan and I'll tell you, navigating through different browsers are fast and easy compare to my 3GS using the web2go plan. I also noticed in my APN settings that I have a 3GS data running. I checked with my t-mobile website and made sure Im not getting charged for the 3GS data plan which Im not. The camera is amazing! when they say its a 5 megapixel camera, it produces a 5 megapixel output. They are not kidding. The battery life is ok. Its about the same lifespan as my iPhone but the best part is that it is removal so I can always get a spare one. Live wallpapers are nice but they eat out my battery just like the video wallpapers for my jailbroken iphone. Google maps is awesome but the GPS turn by turn voice needs a major update. Voice is so muffled I could barely here what she was saying. GPS is very accurate though and thats what's important.

Overall, switching to Nexus one was a very good experience for me and it works really well since Im with Tmobile anyway. One thing Im not going to miss with my iPhone is the waiting for a new unlock and jailbreak to come out every time there's a new firmware update...

Check out a pic I took from my Nexus phone:

I will take your opinion into consideration when it is released on Verizon.

I'm seriously considering Nexus One as well.
And I just found out that iTunes is able to sync with it via a free app.

And it's cheaper as well.

Yes and thats the reason I brought up this thread.. If you ever consider doing the same I did thing but having seconds thoughts, this thread might help you decide..

I am hoping that the iPhone 4G will be something great but like I said, Im with T-mobile and its finally time for me to end the ridiculous "I have to jailbreak and unlock my phone again with this new firmware" excuses.

Yes you can sync your itunes music and videos straight to your nexus phone with an app called double twist. Its very user friendly and has the itunes interface..

I have been putting my in my pocket and I have experienced no hardware problems..

You may want to try doubleTwist. It works quite well with any Android phone. Unless you have other devices that need iTunes, doubleTwist is a great alternative.

Good for you, not everyone is going to be an iPhone user and competition is good. Although I don't see why people buy phones for the cameras. Cell phone cameras are never going to take good pictures when their sensors are the size of peas or even smaller... Sure some are less bad than others, but I wouldn't call any of them good. I took a picture using my iPhone once, to test it out and that was it.

Wow, another nexus one topic on MacRumors in an iPhone Hacks thread, seriously? Doesn't the nexus one have their on forums?? I'm begining to think MacRumors is filled with a bunch nexus one trolling helgramites!!

Here comes the bashing...

Im not trolling around bro.. I can see your a noob. Why do I post here when I have Nexus phone? Simple... My wife still owns a 3GS and uses and iMac. I have a macbook pro and my 2 kids have ipod touches so therefore I still come here looking and giving advices. As long as we own apple products, I'm entitled to post here!

You dont have to reply or bash me with this thread. Im just telling you my experience with my Nexus. Like I said, Im not sitting here talking crap about iphones and such...

That's a great pic and I'm glad people are enjoying the Google phone...but this is probably one of the worst comparison threads ever. It sounds like it wanted to start out as one and then just fell flat on its face.

Did you have to pay a termination fee to AT&T?

Thanks for the info Swoosh. I always love these tools who police message boards making sure nobody posted something where it shouldn't be according to the "nerd code"...yea I'm talkin about you Verizon Slave.

I am also getting kinda bored with my iPhone and am really hoping to be impressed with a new model this summer. If not I'm gonna start checkin out Android phones. From what you say it sounds like the Nexus One is worth lookin at

I'm also a Nexus One owner who uses the boards. Man this is a beast of a phone except for the touch screen. I am so in love with this phone and yet so frustrated with the crappy touch screen at the same time. It really is a love/hate relationship.

OP: have you tried google trails, google latitude, google voice, google goggles, etc? I won't describe them here, but those who are thinking of the nexus one should check out how powerfull these apps become on the google phone. If the ipad is like "holding the internet in your hands" then the google nexus one is like holding the google supercomputer in your hands. The whole point of the phone is that all these extraodrinary functions are capible through the seamless integration with google that the phone has

That being said, I'm so frustrated with the touch screen that I post articles like this on this forum too:

https://forums.macrumors.com/threads/877586/

For what it's worth, I'm going to try and see if replacing the phone through warranty (a cumbersome process that in and of itself makes me wish I was dealing with Apple's customer care instead of a Google-esque handoff to some taiwanese company) will solve the problem. Then I'll make my decision.

Thanks for the info - good to hear about your experiences and about Doubletwist.

I'm currently a 3GS user but am bored of the iPhone interface, multitasking etc and have ordered the new HTC Desire (out 5 April over here in UK).

As others have said, choice/competition can only be a good thing and will help to ensure that both Android and iPhone future products get better over time.

Your reasoning is wrong. Your wife owns a 3GS or whatever Apple products don't make you have the right to post in the wrong forum. However, you have the right to post in any forums but you need to follow the rules. I have a MacBook but do i post in iPhone's forum? Nope. This is an iPhone hack forum which should be about iPhone's hack. Your first post has nothing related to iPhone's hack. The most related forum you should post would be in iPhone forum.

Agreed.

It's funny because they are ALWAYS under the guise of "Oh its an innocent thread don't bash me blah blah."

Macrumors is less about Apple fans and more about trolls and haters every day. Granted the OPs thread isn't snarky like most of them but it still really has no relevance being here.

That would be like me running to the MS forums to talk about Mac and iWork. People just like to see what they can stir up.

I may be being a bit harsh on the OP right now but after seeing 8 apple/mac bashing threads in a row its getting old.

Yay you like your nexus one, go to the google forums and talk about it.

I have a g1 right now, I HATE IT.

I love Android, the G1 is just a seriously underpowered piece of crap.

my contract is up this summer and I will be looking to upgrade.

I am waiting to see what the new iphone looks like before I make my final decision but this post was helpful so thanx for that.

You and some other posters can start a new forum

I accidentally upgraded my iPhone 3gs to 313 and right now I am screwed...... so I bit the bullet and bought a new Nexus One and love it. No more having to unlock or Jailbreak to make your phone work just switch it on and away you go. I have a house full of Apple products but the Nexus One is going to be my preferred hand phone FOR EVER:D:D:D
